It's amazing!!
I haven't seen gas under $3/gallon since..... LAST election!
and let me think. The time before that was.... the previous election!

I'm pretty sure it'll go right back up again right afterward... just like the last two times.
I guess we're supposed to be duped into thinking that the economy is improving.
VOTE THEM ALL OUT AND START OVER!!

Price has dropped here as well, no election though. Apparently there is a worldwide glut at present.

Why do worldwide gluts coincide with American elections?

Ah! If you want to see the true rip off try living in the UK. These fu*kers tell you that the price has dropped to the lowest levels of the past few years and yet the pump prices remain as high as ever! They cite the fact that all the fuel and oil products loshing around in the system today was purchased when the prices were high ...

Someone said it's to do with Libya being back to near full production capability and needing to pay off the debt they owe to the nations that helped rid them of the 'Naughty Colonel' ...

So, lets just watch and see if Libya is all paid up on production right after our election!!
(Maybe they should just hook up with that Nigerian prince's attorney that keeps telling me that I'm heir apparent to million$... If I just send in a small processing fee!)

That sucks mate. 91 has been around $1.38, 95 (which is what I use) around $1.53 but about to start going up again. Doesn't really matter these days (for me) since I no longer work, fuel has ceased to be a major expense. We paid $3.40/ltr (diesel) in the middle of the Canning Stock route a few weeks ago, get that into ya!!!

$2.79 is the lowest price here in Tulsa. It's not politics, the price of a barrel of oil has gone down about 20 bucks in the last several months and US production facilities have increased. At some Sam's in Tenn it was $2.55 a couple of days ago. Any way if it hits $2 I'm going to look for a big tank for my backyard.

Hovering around the same price in central VA. Saw $2.52/gal at a Murphy, but mostly around low $2.60's.
I hope this really is a trend, but the last two elections did the same thing, and immediately afterward, started back up.
Just watch!

$3.29 for cheap stuff in Upstate NY, and over $4.00 at Sunoco if you want the "ethanol free" 91 octane!! That's 30cents more than the "normal" 93 octane with 10% ethanol.

Sure, but in NY, you have the privilege of high gas taxes of almost $.27/gallon. VA has under $.12/gallon, not to mention NY has the 5th highest income tax in the nation.
Think about all those extra services you get!

Problem with this is it never lasts very long. I have to think there are inside agendas going on that are geared towards manipulating the consumer. Their marketing people probably know that when they drop the prices, the amount of drop and the time they stay low will cause consumers to let their guard down and buy all the gas they want and that their mental state will remain that was till a given time after the prices have gone back up. They know what they're doing. And you know damn well if there wasn't an agenda like that behind it they would never have dropped the $ like they did because if they didn't need to for the aforementioned reasons why drop it? It's not like all of a sudden people are going to stop buying gas if the price stays stable and high. The public is predictable and they know all the manipulations that work from years of marketing research.

That said, glad to save a few but for a short amount of time, but it never lasts long enough to really make a difference. lets face it....they have us over a barrel. (pun quite intended )

$3.01 yesterday here in northern Illinois. We have among the highest gasoline taxes in the country. In fact, its illegal in Illinois for a gas station to post the cost of the gas, plus the amount for taxes. Politicians tax the gas, then make it hard for citizens to actually figure out how much of the price at the pump is for the gas, and how much for the various taxes.

Easy enough to find out.
Link
Illinois is 8th highest.
NY is 2nd highest
VA is #46
