I got a great deal on a new long haul touring seat. I have question for anyone with this seat installed. I did it but what a pain getting to the rear fender bolt! how did any one get to it? I finally used a small bend hex wrench and once carefully started did about 20 1/4 to 1/2 turns to get it set. Seat looks to be comfortable but very poor design access. Comments??

Thanks for the info. I've thought about getting one. Could the bolt be replaced by a normal bolt you could get an open end wrench on, and wouldn't that make life easier?

The long haul pillion was the same ,although not sure how it differs from the dual (if thats what you have ?). I find it easier to to start the bolt by hand and then i have a ball end hex key to tighten. I can swap and change in seconds. Put the stud through the mount hole in the bracket first then lower it onto the fender. Hope this helps or you find a better way.

sorry to hear you had problems
i fitted the lh dual seat and it was fine? no issues or problems and im beginning to wonder if i fitted it right lol
removed the bracet for the pillion. the front of the lh hooked under the catch ( if this wasnt done properly it could be an issue as the bolt holes would not align correctly
bolted the rear with a normal allen key and similarly the two side bolts. went on very easily.

I'll see if I can post a pic of what I mean. The fitment is very straight forward 3 bolts, but the rear fender bolt access is buried under the seat foam. I will try with a ball & hex key to see if that helps. Thanks all for the responses.

I know what you're talking about but... the seat flexes and you can easily get a T-handle Allen wrench in there to tighten up.

Same problem here. I had to tightly squeeze the back end of the seat with one hand in order to get a small hex wrench to properly engage. Many turns later it was on. Had to leave off one of the side fitments and then tighten it last, in order to get the back to line up correctly. Not a seat for me to take on/off regularly.

G'Day

Had same problem, had to only half tighten the other 2
then get someone to put some downward pressure on the seat
while i used the allen key to get the back sucker in
then went back and tightened up the other 2.

yes the seat would not fit with it in place. mywhole point here is that the design is poor as one shouldn't have to push and tug at the seat to insert the bolt. I will be using a ball-end hex for removal next time so I can get it at an angle otherwise I fear ripping into the seat with a standard allen head.

hmmm thats interesting, mine came without instructions so at the time of fitting I wasnt sure at first if the bracket could be left on. if I wanted to fly solo it would be less fuss, nice to get clarification

the seat was manufactured in spain. wondering if they all are made there

Yeah I use a 5mm long handle T Bar ball end ....engage the ball then lean on the sucker against the seat and screw like hell

A pain in the Arse isn't it....

None of the Triumph accessories I've gotten came with instructions. Had to go here to get them:
