I found this on MCN

Link
It talks about the coming review of the mod'd tbird that was posted on here a few weeks ago.

Sadly it is a 1600 so it won't have the added punch of the BB kit to impress the writers but the BC exhaust and shocks should add a bit to the experience.

That's a lot of powder and ceramic coating, because there isn't much else to the bike. BC pipes, cowl and shocks are all I can see. According to the site it's not even a BB (which would add a fair bit to the cost) And the paint job, well it blows. Not just because it's ugly, which of course it is but because it's an over spray on the stock black. Sorry, if you are doing a custom paint job, do the whole thing. To me the paint job screams 'half-assed'. Regardless I'll be glad to read the review and see what they have to say.

If I sent mine in and it came out looking like that I would have nailed the *ucker.

I hear ya. One of the outstanding features that initially caught my attention for the Thunderbird was the blue paint with the white stripe. The paint job in the photo makes me sick to my stomach, though. But each to their own, or whatever the saying is.

The blue and white did it for me . I like just about all the mods i have seen ,I would not want most of them but I like them. But this is too over the top . 4500 would makes for an outstanding Bird with the extras available.

Well having a background as a designer there are basic concept issues with this painjob (that was a typo but I left it as it seemed more fitting)

As mentioned before, it's laid on the stock paint.... The only way I see that being ok is if you were going to try and mimic the other stripped bikes in the lineup and put a silver / white or flat black stripe down the bike. Other than that, paint it.

As has been stated 'to each his own' which is absolutely true. Ive seen several birds I thought were rather tragic and would never have them... then again, I'm sure there are more than a few that have looked at mine with a similarly jaundiced eye. That said, if someone executes something that I don't like well, I can still appreciate it. Here they just haven't. On top of my other comments you have a scheme that misses the mark. The idea is to echo the silhouette of the bike in the paint. Fair enough, I don't think I'd go that route but it's a tried and true approach, then they go and mess up on it. Only in one place does 'the line' actually flow properly into the next panel.

I traced the line to show how it doesn't visually connect. (Yes I am desperately trying to avoid work at the moment)

And what is that cable hanging down? This is a custom that they want an extra $7000 for, clean that crap up.

Ok, I've beat this thing to death now and for no particularly good reason. It's still a bird and I like that folks are moding them. I'm just feeling like being a bit bitchy at the moment I guess.

the carefully selected "cruiser" gear matches beautifully the haphazard paint job, topped off with a helmet on acid
lovely
think ill order two

btw those pipes are about the equivelant £425 from bc but here jack lilley who made this bike ( killed it perhaps) sells them for £650 - any of you americans touring over here soon??

The Bird works as a roadster with a few mods you got yourself a great looking ride.

This is a fine example (if not the finest) of how not to do it. Visually it is a dogs breakfast!

Jack Lilley have done some good stuff but this is way off the mark.

Just read the review in the weekly comic ( MCN ). Each to their own of course however i certainly wouldn't have bought the bird if this was the only colour choice Lilley usually does really cool looking specials so i'm not really sure what the aim was with this one......hey hum....

I wonder which engine tune has been utilised with the cat-less hog slayers ?

I'm sure it's just the TOR tune. That's what I ran (now the 1700 TOR tune)

It looks kinda of cool, but my wife only cared about one mod. The long haul passenger pillion and back rest. Now I ride in quiet with her.
