It isn't the kind of bike you want to sit in city traffic with - it doesn't lend itself to that; it's too heavy

I was kinda surprised at that statement. i'm only about 170 Lbs yet to me it handles easier and is nimbler than my speedmaster was. I guess with just a demo i can see how he might think that. In traffic i find it as nimble as anything i've owned even those at 1/2 the weight. I suppose since he just demo'd it he just had to become used to it.

I like Gordon and love the bird, but that was a crap article. Wandered all over the place and barely mentioned the bike. It was still nice to see it though.

As for not wanting the bird in traffic. We are talking london traffic in an area you can lane split... there are bikes I'd much rather have in that situation... but none I'd rather have instead of.

Gordon and I share the same football team so he's ok by me. However his write up on the 'bird was crap.

The 'bird would handle the traffic in The Smoke no problem. He likes his Dukes which is fair enough.

Hard to give this guy much credibility. He could have any bike he wants, yet when he's in the States he buckles to the (must pretend to be a bad boy) attitude and rides a Harley.

Well, since he doesn't live in the US I suspect he is renting those motorcycles. Harley's have a pretty established rental program and I don't know of any other brand in the states that does. I'm sure there are one off shops that rent but not as a systemic service. I've seen lots of Brits that have come to the US for a cycling vacation that have had to get Harleys for lack of any other choice. I wouldn't slam him for that one.

in fairness he is not a pro motorbike critic but his article is an honest personal opinion. we may not agree with his comments and it may be a bit "jackanory"
at least most was positive \bout triumph and the bird and that cant be bad.
my recommend is try before you buy and have a varied journey planned. if i was to travel around london i would choose the triple as my commute

I was in London during last week and was watching the bikers and I can not see any way on this planet that you would get me on a bike anywhere within the M25. But if i did have to choose - well the bird of course, as I have no problem with it in heavy traffic. Its nice to see a big celeb shouting for the triumph but he writes about food far better than he reviews bikes.

Got to Greece mate... I lost 10 years of my life watching the bikers over there!
Out of 4 lanes (going into Athens) - 3 are occupied! The biker chooses to wheelie through to cars side-by-side at speeds of over 120 kmph rather than take the free lane!!!
Mad!?!

Having said that - I really don't see the fun of a nice bike in a city center!
