| Posted : 21 Apr 2010 - 19:21 Post title : Need help with Sissy bar spool | | So I took the sissy bar attachment off the other day and, silly me, I didn't tighten the screw holding the front left sissy bar spool. This is the one that accepts the recessed front "c" attachment on the bar assembly and secures it, keeping it from tilting backwards. Anyway, I returned from my ride with it missing, presumably falling off as some point during my ride. No big deal, I though. I'll just call my dealer and get another one. Well they called Triumph and they said there's no was to just get the spool since there's no part # and they can't order it without a part #. I would have to order the whole f****** sissy bar to get the part!
My man at the dealership was a little irritated as well by this and he said he'll continue to look into it, but he didn't think it looked good. I suggested that he claim that the next sissy bar kit that comes in, comes without one and request that they ship a replacement one immediately. He said good idea, but he doesn't have a sissy bar coming in any time soon.
So does anyone have a similar spool that I could use? Any chance that I could have one machined to match the one I do have? How much would that cost, I wonder? Any of you machinists out there care to give a try? I'm desperate!

If Mad cant sort it , the best thing to do is take your other one to a machine shop (small shop if poss) and someone will do it for a bit of cash. If there are Harleys outside tell them its off your hog and you may get a good deal. A good turner should have one done in half an hour. If I had a drawing I could knock a few out for just such an event to get folk out of the shit.

Excuse my ignorance, my bike is still two weeks away, but the sissy bar is also awaiting the bikes' arrival at the Dealers!
Is this a design fault? Something I need to keep an eye on? When you remove the siisy bar, shouldn't the spool remain there bolted to the fender rail?
I also have the Ezy Bracket waiting to go on - should that complicate matters at all?
