Hey Folks, I'm new here and I'd like to say "Hello" to all Bird lovers out there. As much as I like the stock Bird, I am looking to customize enough of it to look for a damaged one so I don't have to eat the cost of ripping apart a bike that is turn key go.

My customized plans are to modify the tank and put the gauges on the handlebars, widen the tank and have a recessed gas cap in the top center. The suspension and seat will be upgraded then the whole bike repainted.

I'm sure I'm missing something but you get the picture.

So if anyone knows of a downed Bird, let me know.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the link, I'll be checking that often. Where can I see the Dakota digital ? Can you use the same cables ? What are you gonna do about the tank once the gauges are gone ? Have you made any suspension mods ?

Mike

Link dakota digital taps into existing wiring, ive installed em on harleys at my part time job. its a pretty straight forward process. i was thinking of getting a piece of steel welded in to make it smooth then repainting it or maybe make something up as a cover or pocket to hold a cell phone/gps but i dont know if im that talented or can aford to pay someone for that

When I find someone to do my tank, I'll let you know of the price. As far as the gauges, I prefer the analog and like the Rocket III's so I might just use them. I'll keep you posted. I just wasn't sure if the wiring would work.

Now to find the bike for starters.

ECU will be your biggest challenge. Check out AlainD photos of his coffee bird on here. He's the only one I know of that has relocated speedo, etc.
