yesterday my rear running light was not working most of the time, when it did it was flickering. perusing under the rear mud guard in a cafe carpark I found a small neoprene cover about 3 cm long housing the wires before they enter the led unit. this has about a 5mm play on it. when pushing it in the light flickers and works but goes out after about 30 seconds pulled out it flickers and does not stay on. either way it seems like a loose connection.

i know bluenose had a prob with the rear brake light. my b/light works ok as does the indicators, it just affects the running light. anyone else had a similar prob? anyone removed the led unit, can it be done without removong the back wheel?

weather was fantastic and the bike just gets better to ride ( apart from this niggle)

the rear light is held in with 3 bolts, the plastic shroud that gives some protection to the connectors is held in with 2.

that removed it was clear to see the bit I was lightly tugging had nothing to do with the rear light wiring.

the problem lay in the rear light section of the black connector where the yellow wire was loose. The small rubber grommet and the bullet could be seen, the grommet clear of the connector.

reinserting the bullet and pushing in the rubber grommet both sealed the connector and fixed the problem.

this can be done without removing the back wheel but it was useful to remove the led unit from te mud guard to reinsert the yellow wire.

my feelings is this is a 1 off and not a tb issue.
