Keep in mind this is my first attempt at motorcycle maintenance. I didn't want to screw up the Bird so I thought I'd start with an older bike. My intention is to make it a bike for my girlfriend who wants to start riding with me. It's a pretty bike, once I got it cleaned up, and with pretty good get up giddyup (without any mods at all). Last night I put on some Cobra slash cut pipes which look and sound sweet. I also have a bunch of stuff coming including some new Dunlops, a set of stainless engine dressed bolts to replace the old, rusted ones. A new set of mirrors, a stage 2 jet kit from Dynojet, Dyna Beads for the wheels, and a K&N air filter. All to the tune of $745. Not too bad at all. I have a friend who will help me out with this. He says I should get about 15-20% increase in HP and torque with these mods. Sweet.
My problem is that I've been spoiled by the Bird! I love the riding position and getting on the Marauder, it feels small and like I have to manhandle the small T-bars that come with it. I'd love to put similar (if not identical) bars on the Marauder as on the Bird, but am not sure if it'll work. This bike has a slightly more standard riding position. Thoughts?
