Does anyone know where the magic takes place in the auto canceling turn signals? I am looking to mod the controls quite a bit and was wondering if the mods will effect the auto cancel feature or not. Everything else seems to be your typical switch, most likely the turn signal is as well, but I was wondering if anyone knew.

I copied this from the manual:

The turn signal self cancel system becomes active eight seconds after operating a turn signal. Eight seconds after turning the turn signal on and when the motorcycle has traveled a further 213 feet (65 meters), the turn signal self cancel system will automatically turn off the turn signals. The turn signals can be cancelled manually. To manually turn off the turn signals, press and release the turn signal switch in the central position.

What about Bike Bandit. Link they've got some T-bird 1600 electrical system schematics.

If it's measuring distance travelled I'm guessing it's the ECU that controls it.

Cruisin' on thru the junction i'm flyin' 'bout the speed of sound
Noticin' peculiar function i ain't no roller coaster show me down.
I turned away to see her woa! she caught my eye
But i was rollin' down movin' too fast;

i also believe its the ECU as well, normally its the flasher relay however that would have to be attached to the road speed sensor to detect the bike movement and have a processor to calculate distance travelled, TBH this is well beyond any relay i have ever seen so it has to be the ECU, will dig into the wiring and double check for you.

Edit just followed the wiring back and the indicators all go back to the clocks in the tank, this then links to the ecu via CAN so it must be the ecu.
