Hope that there is an answer out there to my TBird issue... I picked up my '10 Bird last week and I love almost everything about it. I bought it because the overwhelming opinion out there was that the bike was so smooth (compared to Harley) with superior handling, performance and braking. My issue is that I feel there is excessive vibration that I think is coming from the engine because it seems to travel up to the seat and into the backrest and up to the handlebars. Had a friend ride it today and he said he felt it in the pegs too. The engine seems to strain at anything over 2500 RPM and although the literature says it really pulls its load at 4000 I don't dare push it there. Is there anyone who had/has the same symptoms? Thanks

What mileage have you got on ?. Is the belt really tight ?

When on side stand, engine on, does it rev freely right up to the red line ? There will be a certain amount of viberation but they do run fairly smooth.

This may very well be a "getting use to it thing"

When I first got mine I experience a similar experience but as time goes on you do get used to it.After all you do have two whopping big pistons flogging up and down right between your legs, I found the harder you rode it the better it felt and if you sort of make it labor down around the 2000 to 25000 rpm they do get a bit "Thumpy". and around the 4000 rpm make you do get a slight Hmmmmmmmmm through the bars but that can be easily cured with some ISO had grips and there are other remedies ( bar snakes etc) that have been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

From all accounts on this forum the T Bird is pretty bullet proof and there hasent been many if any engine failures reported but there has been a few rough running engines experienced and those have mostly been to engine tune changes or one of the map sensor hoses ( under the fuel tank on the RHS) dropping off or coming loose.

Thanks Jerry and Matt... here is the thing... the bike has 10,600 miles and came with shorty pipes that I really like with their throaty sound. I have a feeling that the engine may have been re-mapped for the new pipes resulting in a different ride. I rode a friend's TBird this evening (Feduke on this forum) and his bike with stock pipes felt much smoother - to me. He did not feel all that much difference between his bird and mine as he rode mine. There is however still lots of vibe in the bars that can be remedied. I'll check the MAP hose. Thanks

Thanks Matt. I have 10,600 on the bike. My bird has a shut-off with the kick stand down but I was able to push the idle revs way up while stationery. The belt may be a good point to consider.
I did mention to another poster that the engine may have ben re-mapped for the shorty pipes resulting in a different ride. I am afraid this will be a deductive process type thing.

I agree it could just be a case of getting use to it .having ridden v twins for many years then buying my bird they deffinatly have their own feel to them being parallel compaired to v. and you will also feel a difference from standard to hiflow pipes .I did. Great bike compared to any Harley I,ve ridden .Just ride it and get the feel for it
