My dealer told me today, that the Hinckley factory doesn't make Tbirds with ABS System at the moment. Could it be a true ??
Does anybody here have an email to the factory ?

!!!!

OK - so we understand each other - the TBird IS available in an ABS version.

Whether or not Triumph have momentarily 'stop' production of the ABS versions is a question I can not answer!
If they have - it would be good to know!

Try writing/looking on the Official Triumph FaceBook group - I'm sure that if there is something to say about this, then you would read it there.
I can not find anything on the tinterweb that would support what your dealer told you!

Sounds like he wants to sell you one of his models in his garage - and it is NOT abs!

EDIT

I have just posted the following comment in the Triumph FB group:

Rumor has it in Poland, that the Hinckley factory has stopped production of the ABS version of the Thunderbird!
Can anyone confirm this - or is it a dealers sale-tactic?

Will let you know if I hear anything...

I've got the same feeling, that's why I asked about that on the forum...

website, facebook lol. We rang the corporate office and spoke to their marketing manager and asked him why he advertised shirts they weren't going to make for 3 months...note to all, avoid having a few cocktails before deciding to ring people.

I have e-mailed Triumph about the T-Bird shirts and got jack sh-t back. I have also tried the seperate dealers around England and they dont do them . So good luck with the ABS enquiry. Oh - and while i,m on a rant ,I contacted Givvi to ask if they do a small sports type screen for the T bird and all they said was ' one of our products may fit your motorcycle'.

There are still no ABS bikes in Poland :-(
I hate to wait, so please give me a quick answer: better wait or not for an ABS bike ? Is it a big difference between ABS and non ABS Tbird ? I've never ride an ABS bike.... :-(

Well, I didn't get ABS because I'm a vain poser and didn't want the ugly pie crust ring on the disc of my bike. I also wanted to put the money for the ABS towards the Big Bore kit. Finally, the ABS bikes were delivered about 2 months after the standard and I'm a child when it comes to waiting for my toys. However it should be noted that the big bore kit can be installed at a later date and the ABS can not (well, I'm sure it technically can but it would cost a fortune) Also, ABS is useless.... until it's not. It's that 'not' that you are buying for.

I'm not sure I'm helping at all here. Here is what I know. All reports of the performance of the Triumph ABS system I've heard are positive. There have been a couple of niggling problems with ABS birds that weren't on the standard (small wiring issues mostly) I have locked up the rear tire on mine on numerous occasions, if that thought scares you, you might want to get ABS. If you are going to ride two up a lot you might want ABS. I doubt there are many folks that regret getting it.

For me, I wanted clean looks, more power and right now (or as close to right now as I could get being a preorder) so I skipped it. I don't regret that, Sadly this is a question only you can answer though.

Thought long and hard about ABS and glad I went for it. I ride all year and the surface on the minor roads where I live can be suspect. The Bird's ABS brakes have performed very well for me. So I say, hang fire.

As far as I am aware all thunderbirds with or with out Abs are built in the uk still, as for availability it about two weeks here in the uk, my dealer ordered 2 today, I was up there help build up the first roadster they have had in , all I can say is very nice indeed

Sounds a bit like a dealer excuse to me. No real idea but it wouldn't be the first time a dealer shifted blame for a decision they were making.

Good luck with you decision.

My new ABS Phantom Red Haze is now at my Dealers. I had never ridden, let alone owned, an ABS bike before and despite the AUS$1,000.00 extra price tag, here in Oz, I opted for it when I ordered the Red Haze bird.

Then started the great discussion/argument with me, Dealer and Triumph Australia, whereby James (Melbourne) and I were informed that Triumph would not be importing any ABS equipped 'Phantom' bikes. James and I took issue with this stance and whilst Triumph's answer was probably appropriate (a pure business decision ), I now have a very different opinion of Triumph.

They bent over backwards to organise James' and my bikes and notwithstanding any other issues that may arise, they have two VERY satisfied customers. I'm sure James will concur.

I think that even if that AUS$1,000.00 expenditure saves me just once, it's comforting knowing that it could save some hurt.

I know that it could also buy a s*#t load of accessories that I also want, but that great looking beast could easily become scrap metal if not for the ability of the ABS to give me the chance to survive that scary moment!

If you really think you want the ABS - send a message to Hinckley and ask why you can't get it! (Worked for us!)

Cheers

Jimbo

When originally ordered my T'Bird it had no name, no capacity, no colour, no build date. As time went by Triumph said they would offer ABS. Great I though plus it lowers the insurance. A few weeks before my bike arrives, that would be 50 weeks after insisting my dealer take a deposit lol, Triumph Au tell me that there is no ABS. WTF!!!. I go along to the local new bike show and we collar the Triumph Au from from over east who tells me that ABS is too hard and Australian riders wouldn't buy it. Then he tells me that the dealer would be happy to return my deposit I like. I politely told him he should take care in his speech as I would take my fist full of dollars across the road and by a V-Rod just to spite him.

Long story short. Triumph Au, not to be confused with their local rep is a good guy and the dealer who are good poeple, have someone in their business who doesn't understand the market or the product or the changing position of the product in the market and the fact you got ABS is down to all our collective insistence that they give it to us.

My point is Triumph Au were dragged kicking and screaming into the ABS deal...dont expect too much from them unless suitabley motivated

Enjoy the ride and enjoy the insurance discount.

My problem is not with Hinkley...Its Triumph Au. They need to get with the programme, it is likely that the EU wll mandate ABS as manditory (not to mention the madness of a 100hp limit lol) and here we are fighting for ABS . I've used my ABS, It was a low risk manouver at the time...small child rides bike half of a curb and gets beached...little chirps as it kicked in, no huge pumping back through the bars. It's nice to know it's there but as most people do I ride like it's not.
