I have this bag (not that one though) and it does the job perfectly. The top bag removes and makes a great 'day' bag when you don't need the whole thing. The main bag is huge and the pockets around it are really useful. and its waterproof. It just slips over the backrest and clips on simples. Only I paid 130 quid for mine.

Keith - I would take it off and put it back on for 70quid.

Is that for the school-kids? It looks so nice ;-)
I do not like to drive with a bag at my body. It is so heavy of long rides at the shoulders

No. This bag is for hanging off the back rest. It is more suitable for hand carry.

Dumb question time , do you need to have a rack on the back or can these things just hang on the sissy bar?

best to have a rack to lessen the stresses on the stitching also the rack will help keep the bag from resting on your back light

If I have not got Mrs1600 I just turn the bag round and put it over the backrest and sit it on the pillion seat. I can get a tent, s/bag and several bottles of beer in it.

This is a great bag. Price is also ok. I would like to get it from eBay but:
@Mat1600: is it really waterproof or only water repellent?
Thanks for an answer.

Well, I'm going from experience here. My last trip to Switzerland had me riding just about every day in rain. Some of the rain was torrential. I didn't have the overcover on (that got a rip in it the year before and ended up sailing down an Autobahn) but it kept the water out. Just for extra protection I always put everything in plastic bin liners. I didn't notice any damp inside the bag. I usually travel with hard panniers which lock on the bike, so the oxford bag is handy to keep your overnight stuff in and just slip it back on in the morning. There are two clips at the bottom which snap around the bottom of the backrest, this will keep it secure. I also put a strap through a top loop and under then over the backrest pad - I just hate stuff moving about while I ride.

Thank you for that information.
But I think they are not going to send it to Germany.
I will try to buy it.
Cheers Elmar

Try Amazon. I got mine from a normal bike accessories shop - I see a lot stocking Oxford.

Ok. I got this bag via eBay. So good so far.
Its really a great bag. Wanted to use it last weekend on a trip with my wife and found that it is not fitting to the OEM passenger backrest. The holding is too tight for the backrest pad. I cannot slip it over. So I took only the top bag roll and fixed it with the straps. It was really water proof as on saturday we were riding in the pouring rain (way back on Sunday in sunshine).
How can I go along with it as I want the keep the bags because they are really good?
Has somebody got an advice how to make the holding more wide to slip it over the backrest pad?
Thanks for an idea!
Elmar

There are some 'D' rings attached to the bag at the back and one big one at the top. You could make your own holding fixture and fasten it to these. Or do what I do and thread a strap through them, the bottom of the bag can be fixed on with the attached snap clips.

I finally got a very nice solution for the problem. See pics

I'm happy with it. Holidays can come closer
