Sorry if this had been asked before. I tried searching the site but kept getting timeout errors.

So, I just got back from a 200 mile trip and notice my left header pipe yellowing. I read somewhere that this is due to a lean or rich condition. Has anyone experienced this?

My Setup:
Storm 2013
Cat delete (elbows)
UNI Filter
Stock pipes
OEM TORS Map (20363)
89 octane gas.

Thanks all!

I have experienced it on a different bike I had . It was slightly lean. Check your plugs, very light ashen color is too lean, dark or black , too rich. light tan about right. Possibly the Cat delete design?

I have the same issue: yellowing of pipe, the left one only.
It notice it when my 1600 2009 bird was in stock condition. So not relaed to cat removal.
I ask Triumph to take it in garanty but they refused.
No increase since that time, even after I remove the cat to put the hogslayers and K&N filter (with the appropriate tune).

Yep I have blue yellow left header with long tors and high flow air filter on a 1600. Seems to be a left side thing.

YELLOW or GOLD is usually a sign of a LEAN condition, while BLUE or PURPLE is usually a sign of a RICH condition, and ya don't really wanna see either. You can try performing the 12 minute adaption procedure to see if that will correct the condition. If not,try using an additive like Sea Foam,Star Tron,or one of the many other Fuel Injector Cleaners on the market to clean the injector nozzles as they have a tendency to get carboned up due to their location in the combustion chamber, and it doesn't take much. OR, you can try a different type of gas.I ALWAYS run high test and have discovered that mine loves the Shell 93 Octane.

Now if you've altered the system in some way,or have the machine set up for balls to the wall performance, then all bets are off as it now becomes "trial and error" in an attempt to correct the condition "IF" it can be corrected at all. I wish you gentlemen luck!! Dave!!!

Regardless of which color they are, a header turning color on the bird is a sign that the internal wall of the header is touching the outside wall and you should have your header replaced. I wouldn't tend to trust the particular color of the header as meaning anything since it is a double wall design. The double wall is going to change the temp that is getting to the outside wall and therefore change the color the pipe changes and therefore make the particular color an unreliable measure of what (if anything) is going wrong. But, the fact that it is changing at all is a sign that the header itself is defective.

I had the same, left header going yellow/golden. Got it replaced under warranty. As Thatch said, these are double skinned, and shouldn't discolour.

I won't believe it until it has been officially denied.

Mine (left) has been discolored for a couple of years now, but I don't think it has anything to do with the wrong mixture. Like Thatch said - they are double-walled so all bets are off.

I thought about replacing it, but hey they are almost impossible to clean anyway so I said screw it (for now).

Mine discolour now slowly over a few months, both seem to change at the same rate and colour. I'm over three years now so out of warrenty and autosol brings em up easy enough.

Yes it's cool with me. I can live with a little colouring without thinking it needsto be fixed.
