mine was tight like the others say, so I made sure not to tighten it too much, but the cap began to work loose and now with 3 clicks to tighten it still come loose????!!!!

You are the first 'too loose' issue I've heard of. Only issue I've ever heard were folks that had trouble getting the cap off. Of course I've not heard of anyone's not eventually loosening up some in time as well (not too loose) Most of these gas cap purchases are just 'look pretty' purchases.

I am hope that because it was too tight that it didn't wear down the catch mechanism which seems to be plastic.

Does it still click when you turn it down? What about the gasket on the underside, not out of place is it?

yes clicks but feels loose so I turn it until at least 3 clicks...helps sometimes! but no always
