Has anybody purchased the Hog Slayer pipes from BC and how do you like them?

Heard them on youtube, they look nice didnt quite like the sound but maybe hearing it on youtube is not as good as in person. I saw some pipes also from a company called D & D they look good also. Drawback is having to go into the dealer to download a new tune Dont know why the ECM cant sense the change and self adjust, heck its a computer and alls it takes is proper software. Id pay a little more for a bike that could do that automatically.

I put then on my 2010 1600 SE. I think they look and sound great. I put the ECU tune in myself and it made a noticeable increase in the performance. I have the Corbin seat so I don't have that little air duct. Sound much better in person than on any video.

When researching for pipes, maps, filters, performance, sound and appearances, it came down to Hog Slayers and Forans.

I chose Hog slayers , Tune Boy mapping, K&N filter ( top rubber seal ring removed) and Dynoed.

The performance is good, when you give a sharp burst in any gear, it "chomps at the bitt" and goes, and has excellent mid range torque.

I chose the Hog slayers, because after the Cat removal, I wanted the pipes to breath straight through, from the headers to the mufflers without a cat replacement Cross Over pipe.

At first it had heavy Decel backfiring, but with a bit of Tweaking by the dyno mechanic, backfiring is extremely minimal.

* Something worth investigating with the importance of Cross Over Pipes (after Cat removal ), is, Negative Pressure Balance between the two exhaust pipes during firing and exhaust cycles.... is it critical or not....

Hence , I do not notice anything different, and (I ride with riders who have Forans), I like my pipes, To do it again from scratch.....the Forans have the edge on Hog Slayers Ha, ( Not by Much though). ???

To me the Hog Slayers, sound fairly similar to Forans, and both look smick on the Tbirds.

So you had a tuner tune the bike in Tuneboy? What did you get for max torque and HP?

Hi Dougl

Hope these readings are of use to you.

1st gear at 20% throttle, Max Power = 10.34 before 13.11 after

2nd gear at 40% throttle, '' '' = 23.73 before 35.12 after

Full Throttle, " " = 70.37 before 74.80 after

Max Torque, = 93.94 before 96.25 after

As I stated in my previous post, it is very responsive in the mid range.

Cheers,
Bussa.
