Well boys I have gone and finally got rid of those old grandpa looking short TORS and had some custom stainless pipes made up . They are one piece from the header pipe subsequently bypassing the cat box and made out of stainless steel. My old system was cat by pass pipes and short TORS so in comparison I would say that these pipes are slightly quieter however have a deeper quality sound. They seem to work better with the tune of the bike as well. The bike is not popping on deceleration half as much as previous and goes great. The boys at Slacks Creek that knocked them up also made some new heat shields up to make them look like they are meant for the bike. Initially there were some things that I wasn't satisfied with but Peter Turner at Slacks Creek was more than willing to help me get to where I wanted to be with these pipes. They advertise custom made cruiser pipes for $790 so its not a bad price. I payed a little more with the heat shields. I'm happy with the finished job. I'm sure some of you will hate them and some of you will love them so here they are. Oh yeah - I guess I've got a set of short TORS / heat shields / / cat box for sale now to - although hasn't everybody

Not bad, not bad Dan I'll keep looking at them, they might get better, sort of like beer goggles

So what tune are you running? (1600/pipes/no cat/filter ) I presume ?

How easy is it to remove pipes for axle removal?

Experience is something you get just after you needed it

Yeah mate I can't remember the tune that the bike has. Its the one required for the short TORS anyway. I can't believe how the popping has diminished - its a good thing. Unfortunately one of the pipes will have to be removed prior to sliding the axle out for wheel change but its the same drill as most mufflers. Just take the heat shield of then loosen one clamp and a bolt and the jobs done. I was going to have the pipes run lower than the axle to avoid this procedure but didn't want to be scraping the exhaust around corners. I know that there not every bode taste but thats what "custom" is all about I guess

I think the height is just right. I just wonder about the Tors tune though, no cat and all? I have short (grandpa!!) tors but don't like the sound of them without the cat (Magpie!).

Yeah a fellow forum member and good mate "NUX" is the computer guru and owns a go pro. His Tbird has short TORS and no cat box so I'll get him to do a short sound clip comparing the two bikes side by side. Juts a matter of getting together with work and all that. Stay tuned.

Nice looking pipes, a bit of the old school look about them. pity the bike is blue or it may have gone faster

I like 'em. I also like that they're kind of a one off for the Thunderbird. I'd love to hear them if you get the chance to make a sound clip.
