I'm new to the forum, having just picked up my 2012 Demo Thunderbird 3 weeks ago and am quite enjoying it.

I would like a good windscreen for it, similar to the triumph taller screen, But not in the same price range(~600 with screen and mounting kit).

Any suggestions? I like the look of the Triumph screen physically. I have a National Cycle screen on my 919.
Thanks
jeff

+1. The Dart screen is a good buy and works really well.

Nice shiney Bird there - and in the best colour. Great choice the Blue and White.

To me it all depends on the style of riding and the look you want. For my younger years I wouldn't even think of a windshield on a bike. Now that I'm, lets just say I'm well seasoned; I wouldn't ride without a windscreen. Long story short; I had the original 22-1/2" Triumph quick release windscreen and the buffeting beat the hell outa me (even with lowers). I went with Cee Bailey's replacement screen and it's fantastic. 2" on the width made all the difference in the world on buffeting. I can't for the life of me understand how Triumph could have possibly tested their windshield. Oh well...........Cee Bailey's, just follow their instructions on the website and you'll be happy IF you want a full windshield. All you will need is the Triumph mounting hardware for the quick release screen.

Never had a fly screen.

Beautiful bike by the way. As are ALL "TBirds"

Jeff,
Welcome to the board!

If you are looking for something bigger than the fly screen, I'm afraid you are going to have to pay a fair amount to get something that works. The Cee Baily seems to offer the best protection with the least amount of buffeting, but you will meet to purchase the Triumph hardware. Others have added additional screens to the Triumph screen to eliminate buffeting.

Clearview is working on a shield for the T-Bird. It will also require the Triumph mounts.

Thanks for all the replies! Yes, I'm trying to avoid buffeting as much as possible. For my commute(17miles one way) it isn't a problem. But I'm planning a Sturgis run in 2014 from St. Louis and will be riding a couple of days ALL day. Trying to make it as comfortable as I can. I'm an old guy(my first (3) bikes were Honda 550 4s, followed my 2 360Ts) and am trying to be alive after the second day.....

Looks like I will get the quick release mounting kit from Triumph. The custom windshields look pretty nice to. I will check out the switchblades first , though.
