I know this has probably been discussed at length already, but I bought a used set of Triumph saddlebags, and installed them yesterday. The left side bag seems to have some sag in the top of it from passenger exit. Has anyone remedied this with a quick fix? I'm looking into it now, but I was hoping someone might be able to save me some time.

Thanks,

Rev

The fix is to take it to a leather shop, shoe repair, canvas shop or sail loft and have them sew the plastic reinforcemnt to the top. That however means you have to seal the stitches or it will leak.

The ones I got from Triumph SUCKED...

There are companies that sell stiffeners for Harley Bags. Some might work for our Tbird bags but I recall 150 bucks and shipping.

Or you could spray a mixture of Rum and Viagra on the bags to stiffen them up. I turned in the first pair for warranty. Got a 2nd pair replaced then sold the 3rd on eBay.

You can reinforce the lid but I think the leather material will go bad and look crappy quickly so I would suggest selling them.

I liked the Hard Streets Slimbag or Sixxers from Fast Eddy on Easy Brackets for my bike but I think the Road King HD bags look good. Locking bags are great to have. Waterproof locking bags are even better.

Other options are Ammo Boxes, Pelican Cases or Givi side bags.

How hard is it to mount the HD Road King bags?

There are a few bikes on this forum that have them mounted.

I have held the bags up to my bike and tried to see how they fit. I did not like the way they stuck out longer than the rear fender but they would have mounted up with Easy Brackets. I went with the Slimbags:

I had a problem with the locks on the bags and I wrote Hardstreet and they sent me a set of locks 2nd day air. Great service. The Slimbags I have carry enough gear for my needs and if I need more I use a sissybar bag from Saddlemen.

I have had Saddlemen slant bags that warped worse than the Triumph bags and decided to just pay up and go with hard bags. It makes the bike so much better.

Hi Fishy,

Those Slimbags look good - are there any issues with a passebger's legroom or the rear dresser bars?

Thanks

Thanks, the boards are as supplied by Triumph passenger and driver. Slimbags don't hamper the passenger but she says riding back there sucks as she has her own bike. As for Sixers vs Slimbags it's a choice on looks I think. Slimbags better for laptops as they are longer. I have a Domke F803 messenger/camera bag that fits perfectly back there. Hardstreets also makes nylon bags for the hard bags. I had an issue with the locks on the Slimbags and Hardstreets sent me replacement locks 2nd day Air on thier nickel. Real customer service. I love them. If I sold the bike I would get Slimbags again.
