I wouldn't buy one but I do like the paint and seat. Wonder if the colour would suit my storm

The Breakout comes in a standard version and a CVO. The CVO is stunning but in Oz costs about $42k ride away. The local Harley distributor ordered 125 of them and they are all sold. You can't even get one for e test ride.

IO saw 2 different colours and if Triumph could have Harley paint and chrome they would be a world beater. Nothing comes near a Harley, especially the CVOs finish.

Steve I have a mate who has ordered one, will be his fourth HD in less than two years, hate to know how much money he has torn up, but I'll give him his dues when it comes to getting the things around corners fast.

Lee, I am going for a ride tomorrow with a mate who has a CVO Dyna Fat Bob and I can't keep up with him.His bike has heaps of grunt from its 110 ci or 1800cc engine. he has had a few mods done to it but it is a good bike. Mind you, when he bought it it cost him $62k so it would want to be good but he has not had one problem with it and it has around 40,000 kms on it now. It also get about 15k out of the back tyre which pisses me off.

I actually like Harleys but I prefer Triumphs and I guess that goes back to my first Bonny I had in 1970.

Well I guess if we put that much money into our Birds they would be something else. The mate, Steady Eddy, reckons he keeps buying toys (Harleys and V8's) to piss his wife off hoping she will get the shits and leave.

I like it . Why cant they just get some power out of these things . Im no brand snob even though I bought an English bike, because Its English and classic. But hey if Harley brought out a killer bike with thier fit and finish for the not stupid price they rip people off with , who knows............... Id add one to the TBird.

just got back from a ride with my buddy on his new breakout and i really like the seat but after riding it me and him had an impromptu rolling start drag race with him getting about a 2 bike headstart and the bird ran him down and pulled him by 4 to 5 bike lengths before we let off. afterwards we stop to eat and nothing was said but i think he has a little more respect for the bird now the harley 103 just doesnt pull like the bird

currently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually

I rode one last week and I think it is truly awful. I like Harleys but for me the breakout is terrible, bars too low, forks too low and forward giving a very strange turn in, but each to their own I suppose.

For $17,899 I'd buy a new Trophy for touring and keep my bird for cruising. As far as handling, my guess is... it doesn't. Like someone said same old same old.

When first seen the link I seriously considered trading the bird for this bike then I seen it in real life

I parked my bike next to a 2 month old red standard Breakout today at a majorly packed tavern near my place. I am not a Harley knocker generally and I am not trying to be in this case but to a man and quite a few women my Bird left it for dead in the "looks" stakes. Both bikes were a similar red so the comparison was as close as 2 bikes can be. Mine is no standard Bird having pretty well every chrome option that Triumph made fitted to the bike but at roughly give or take $8000 more than my bike I expected more, much more from the Harley. The owner was clearly hurt by what had happened but that's real world opinion for you without the Harley bias that many owners clearly have for the brand. Before the owner was put out by what was to go on soon afterwards he and I had a good chat about the bike. He owns another Softail, 2 Sporties and a BMW 1200 but said that even after 2 months of owning the bike he was still having difficulty in adapting to the bikes geometry particularly on slow corners and roundabouts. He thought it was possibly the bikes rake and wheel base but I told him it was probably the 240 rear that was hindering it's low speed handling. Anyway my thoughts of doing what surfing72 had considered about trading the T'Bird for a Breakout were well and truly shot dead there and then.

hi all,
when this was first released I thought yeah this looks so amazing ..
and I still think it looks great.

today, I took one for a ride and I was so disappointed with it..
my expectations were too high.

honestly, no power at all..!
I mainly rode around in it in second gear and needed to keep the revs around 4k and over for me to feel any kind of pull.

they are meant to be 103 cube and to me it had far less power than the bird.

when I mentioned this at the dealership I was told I need to consider it has stock pipes on it. my answer: so does my bird...

sunny, thats always the hue and cry of HD owners that their bikes are so restricted stock because of emission standards so i say so is the bird but even the 1600 will pull their 103 whether its stock or "stage1". after the butt wiping i gave my buddy i'm sure he dont want none of a 1700. now he says he's more into looks than performance then i think he's on the right bike i say with a set of performance cams the bird would be an un-beatable twin cylinder crusier
