| | Posted : 16 Feb 2013 - 08:18 Post title : Cheap Chrome mirors | | | Well I had my heart set on a pair of Rizoma Senso mirrors to replace the massive (but practical) standard mirrors but at $400 Australian they were way to dear for me  . For those that aren't familiar with these mirrors, check out birdy68 pics. They look unreal.
So any way I found a pair of cheap mirrors on ebay for $60 delivered. They arrived within a week from Thailand and were gift wrapped with a personal hand written note. I haven't experienced customer service like this before over the net and didn't expect it coming from Thailand. The only thing better would have been a massage with a happy ending.
The mirrors come with an assortment of bolts so that they will fit a variety of bikes. All I had to do was make a rubber bush / grommit out of an old spear gun rubber to take up the slack around the bolt within the switch housing. Yeah the new mirrors are way smaller and lower than the standard ones and I can already here all you old blokes saying how they are not practical and you actually want higher bigger mirrors but I don't like the look of riding around with a couple of bathroom mirrors strapped to my bars so I'll give these a run. I thought at $60 its not a bad risk to take. I would hate to spend $400 on Rizoma and then realise they are to small. Below are some pics (sorry about the quality). See what you reckon.

I just fitted them 1 hour ago and its getting dark and pissing rain to I haven't gone for a run yet. I have to admit that when I only had one fitted there was a dramatic difference in rear vision compared to the stock one still attached. I guess I'll be doing a lot of head checks before lane changing etc.. I reckon they really suit the Tars though. The quality looks great but time will tell.

Dan, You can't go wrong at $60 delivered,
I agree I would love a pair of the Rizoma Senso mirrors, but again cannot really justify this cost to the .................... SWMBO !!!!
I might just have a punt myself at that price mate !!!

I was concerned about how small they are but I can report that they are fine. I can see everything behind me I need to. So if you like the style i reckon its a cheap alternative to stock. As for the quality of the chrome only time will tell I guess. At the moment they look great

Just ordered mine up from the same company, although I have opted for the slightly bigger mirror type than yours.

So Just finished this little project off now !!
Had to make some Cam's up out of Stainless steel to make them fit, which turned out OK.
Very happy with result, cannot knock value for money, these are the larger type, and they are as near dam-it to the original length and height as the standard ones.
With of course, the exception of the machined out stems, and tear drop mirrors, the mirrors also have a "Blind Spot" in the mirror !!!

There is no doubt my mirrors offer less vision than stock but I haven't experienced a blind spot as such. In saying that, I always check mirrors and then do head checks before making a movement on the road.

Hi Dan,
Sorry to confuse you, when I refer to a "Blind Spot" on the mirror, it is where the manufacturer has gone one step onward from the standard mirror, this has a vertical line towards the outside of the mirror lens, and gives as best described, as a convex angle to pick up "Blind Spots", which in fact is better than that, of a plain mirror lens. "If that makes any sense'!!
Sorry for the confusion, but got to say, pleased as punch with the finished job !!!

Where did you get that Flyscreen from and does it come with the chrome brackets as fitted to your bike? Also did you manufacture the mirror stem extensions yourself? What is the diameter of the stem section that meets up with the mirror? I have a set of Kuryakyn Sythe mirrors that are pretty cool too but having ridden with them they are just a bit low in the stem in case I need to hit the levers in an emergency because the clearance between mirror and grip is a bit low. Those stem extensions would be ideal in correcting that problem.
