Just wanted to share a quick story about brake seals.

I was thinking of replacing my brake seals for the front brakes on the Thunderbird, and I went to price them at the stealer. To my surprise, the brake seals are over 80 bucks for one set... ONE SET. That's over 190 dollars for enough seals to do the job. That's beyond ridiculous. To make things even more amusing, you can get a set of brake seals and pistons for less than the cost of just the brake seals. WTF? So I went on a search for seals for the nissin front brakes, and I found sprint manufacturing in Great Britain. (Link I was hesitant to order from them, but I'm really glad I did. Communication was excellent, and for less than the cost of one set of seals from the dealer, I got a set for each caliper (86 dollars total with shipping.) The parts arrived in a very timely fashion for how far they had to fly, and I was more than happy with the customer service of making sure I received exactly what I ordered. The email responses were less than 24 hours, and they tracked the package to the point that after it showed as delivered, I was contacted to make sure I received it.

For any of you that might be frustrated with trying to find maintenance, or other parts here in the US, give them a try. I think you'll be as satisfied as I was.

Hi Rev
Yup Sprint are good. Use them for all my other bikes and always found them priding an excellent service. In most instances next day for UK service.
Glad to know international is as good.
Regards
Sean

There are four seals and four pistons used in each caliper. You have two large pistons and seals, and two smaller pistons and seals on the opposite side in each caliper. The seals and pistons come three ways,a package of 8 seals ,a package of 8 pistons,or a package of 8 pistons and 8 seals combined.Ya shouldn't need the pistons, only the seals. If need be,the pistons can be dressed using steel wool as they should still be in pretty good shape. The seals, however, may or maynot be in good shape. If the machine is old,has set idle for a period of time, has high mileage [100,000 plus], or been under water, then ya might have to change everything. But ya won't know that until ya get into the job and get the calipers disassembled. But changing the seals is a good idea since ya have everything open.Use air,not a tool [so as NOT to damage the seal and or piston bores] to remove the seals. You'll find they just blow right out. Then liberally coat the new seals as well as the pistons with brake fluid, and reassemble.I just rebuilt mine last summer, but got the kit with everything in it under warantee.Thge job really isn't that difficult to do.In all honesty, the only thing that actually needed to be done on mine, which I discovered after taking the calipers apart, was to clean the junk out from inside the calipers. But since Triumph gave me the kit,I replaced everything.Plus I think you'll find that the 8 seals are 80 bucks, and the 8 pistons are another 80 bucks. But as I said, the only thing you'll probably need is just the seal kit.Good luck. Dave!!!
