Does anyone know if the short TOR part# A9600261 will fit a TBird 1600, 2009. These are in an auction and the year they have come off is unknown (suggested a 2010). I have had a search around the web and can only find reference to the part number here, thanks:

I could be wrong, but they may well just be selling the left side muffler. And they also say what number it is in the drawing and that denote just the one left side pipe. Doesn't appear it even comes with the heat shield, which is different from the stock long pipe's shield.

I had checked the seller if it was for both pipes and had asked if they would fit a 2009 but was more thinking about the set up and gas flow (will 2012 pipes fit a 2009, runs ok) didn't realize that the heat shields were different or would have to get those as well so have asked if they come with the pipes, thanks again for the info

They will fit. I took the ones I had off of my 2009 bird and fitted to my new 2012 model. Fitted fine. Make sure though that the exhaust comes with the correct shroud covers as the standard exhaust covers will not fit without rubbing. Regards Sean

You have saved me a bit of grief. The seller has replied saying it doesn't come with the shrouds as the original heat shield is the same for the short and long pipes (this is what he used) but you guys and part numbers say different.
Tempted to find the price for a set of heat shields as the price on offer here in New Zealand is US $415 as opposed to US $1,000 new. Living down under in NZ things are a bit more $$$$ and parts don't come along that often
Could buy on E-bay but postage and customs tax takes it right up.

Each kit has its own shields when you purchase them.
Since the Short Shields are a different shape altogether to the Long TOR Shields or Standard Muffler Shields.

I certainly got replacement heat sheilds when I ordered my short TORS. It was actually in the description of the TORS when I was reading about them on the dealers website (Triumph Cruiser accesories catalogue). And if If I'm not mistaken, this descripstion comes from Triumph. Furthermore (and please do correct me if I'm wrong), I think new heat shields are required because I think the diameter of the short TORS gets bigger at a quicker rate (from front to back) then the long ones do.....Thus a new heat shiled is required

I think where you may be confused is the LONG tors have no shields with them because they use the same as stock. Shorts have the different shield so they come with them. I've had both long and short tors so this is from experience. I tried using the shields for the long pipes with the shorts once and they didn't fit right right. They will work, but If i recall correctly like someone else mentioned i think they scrape the muffler instead of floating about .25" above them.

Decided to give the item a miss, although the seller had said what some were saying here about not having a problem with the original heat shields, all the OEM ones I can find say:
Supplied complete with replacement exhaust gaskets & revised heat shield covers to match revised profile. Requires specific tune download.
Think I have found a set of new ones with all the above for not too much more.
