Hey guy s, here is a power adapter bracket made for me by Gary alias Weatherman.
Well reachable and hidden.

Comments please.

Gary has also made some other accessories for the Bird that will be shown later.

My part was just to helping Gary with the pictures.

On a serious note: That looks very nice!

But what if you get spray from wet roads?

The adapter is for marine use and one has to see to that the wire connectors are covered properly

The bracket is still in Garys garage in Vista Ca. I m visiting Finland this month but will leave for
California by midd April and do the wiring. I ll probably take it to the fuse box where I spotted
an empty fuse. I ll get back to this issue later. Perhaps Gary has by then more accessories to
bolt on.

I have installed the genuine power socket and adapter.
There is already the correct cable with plug, on top of the fuse box,it is tapped in blue tape to another wire
and it mounts beside the key ignition.

I was told the genuine socket was smaller than a cigarette socket.

Is that wrong?

The genuine socket needs a Powerlet connector.

It's about a third the size of a cigarette plug,

I also went for the OEM power socket. Bought one of these Link so i could keep the Optimate doing it's job

Cabeling done, found the free socket behind the ignition key. Electricity flows.

That looks really good and really makes sense to put it there as well, if you have any accessories that need power hanging off the handlebars. Great thinking! :)

What are you screwing the bracket into? The cable cover thing?

The cable cover provides the 2 screws I ve charged my phone even in my pocket without disturbance.
The only thing that I miss on the bike is a beer tap

for those of you that need power via mini-usb connection (phone, GPS, etc.) this is a very nice solution: Link
it wires directly to the battery, provides 5 volts (standard USB voltage) and when routed under the tank is not very visible.

OK - so now my phone can charge while I ponder around the Swiss roads - PLUS - I'll be using it as my Optimate (battery tender / charger) input location!

I did look at the OEM socket, but as it's been commented - it's the smaller version of your standard car socket.
So I bought:
- a standard 12V cigerett socket
- black outdoor silicone-filler
- black cables ties

General testing of location - tucked up and under the tank on top of injector air input tubing...

I wired the socket directly to the battery, with a 5A fuse inline.
I wrapped some plastic tubing and black electrical tape around the threading/rear of socket...

Then using some outdoor/all weather/saltwater resistan/-30 to 150 C silicone I...

... 'gundged' up the back of the socket

Then using two black cable ties I fixed the socket on top of the injector/air feed tubing.

Everything works wonderfully!

Total cost:
- SFr. 19.00 Socket
- SFr. 6.90 Silicone (loads left over - can/will be used for future projects)
- SFr. 2.50 Cable ties
---------------------------
SFr. 28.40

Triumph OEM Power Socket
SFr. 45.00 - plus it's the wrong size for me!

Hope this helps someone

They are commonly known as "BMW type power plugs", I bought mine at my local Triumph dealer in Pensacola (D&D Cycles), hopefully a Triumph dealer would have these hanging on the wall in the accessory section.
