Very cool Dave ! It's funny tho.... the dealer making a big deal of 50k that it. A Tbird with it's short stroke low RPM water cooled and mildly tuned motor should still be in it's infancy at 50k. They should do 200k no problem and i bet with care 300. But then with the miles Dave puts on it his will be worn out completely in no time.

No it won't be worn out Dale cause I stay on top of all my equipment and toys. lol You guys should realize that by my posts. My target is 200,000 miles, and I'll get there "IF" I live long enough. My last machine was just shy of 200,000 miles when I sold it after buyin this one.The guy who bought it thought he died and went to heaven cause, even though it was 11 years old and had 200,000 miles showin on the clock,it still ran, rode, and looked new.And that's because I took care of it just like I'll do with this machine, that is,if these frigin shit tires don't kill me first. The bike shop I bought the Bird from offered me a warpin 500 bucks for my old bike on a trade. Well I don't think so!!

Dave!!!

Very stout Dave. Not to many can say they've actually done 50K on one motorcycle let alone many. Congratulations on attaining and continuing an excellent goal and commiserations for your backside.

Congratulations Dave on 50K miles travelled in the past 12 months. Amazing distance even with the winter period, ice salt & snow,

Beautiful TBird there. She should be just starting to loosen up confortably.

Cheers Alex

Enjoying the Journey

The write up by the dealer was actually alittle off as I've had this machine for alittle over two years now and not a year and a half as stated in his write up.I mean,I do drive the machine a lot,but according to weather conditions as I'm now retired and do NOT have to drive to work everyday as in years past. The first year I owned it,for example,we had a solid four months, plus,of heavy, wet snow, where we measured it in feet, not inches, making it almost impossible to drive the average automobile, never mine a two wheeler, and mine stayed parked for that entire period of time.I may be crazy when it comes to riding, but not that crazy when it comes to snow fall like we had that year. But,if it wasn't for that bad winter,I would've hit the 50,000 mark a long time ago.

Now we'll see how long it takes me to hit the century mark.If the winters around here stay like last winter,[no snow or ice on the roads] it should be within two years, depending on my health and if I live that long. But since only the good die young I don't see a problem!! We'll see!!! Dave!!!

I'm gonna try to give you guys alittle bonus.I just came in from alittle ride to burn off alittle more gas [the tank is easier to handle with less gas in it] and put the scooter on my lift to change the plugs, [it's easier for us ole folk, lol,to do when it's on the lift] which I'm doin every 25,000 miles, not 12,000 as recommended in the SM.And since I'm now over the 50 mark,it's time to do it again. Now if I can only get my daughter in the shop with her camera,I'll try to post a pic of it up and down on the lift I made.I think you'll find it pretty cool.

OK!! We FINALLY got the pictures down loaded! As you can see,the lift is a Snap On,is portable, and is primarily used to lift cars for brake jobs, tires, suspension work, body work, etc. It has a 6000 lb lift capacity,is hydraulically operated, and a 37 inch lift height.I secured that piece of 4X8 foot [cut down to 38 inches wide and 91 inches long],3/4 inch thick plywood to the top of the lift, bought and mounted the wheel vice on the front of it, and use that scissors jack [BLACK JACK shown next to the rear wheel] to lift the machine when on the table lift for tire R+R,etc.I can simply remove the plywood [four 1/2 bolts] and go right back to usin it for cars when needed. Also note the tie down straps securing the machine in the rear via the crash bars.In the picture the machine is backed on to the lift and then raised so I can easily access the screws holding the seat on. I'll then lower it to access the front tank screw and raise the tank enough to access the spark plugs. I also made a four foot long,38 inch wide ramp [not shown] to drive and or push any motorcycle on and off the lift.

Not bad for an old dumb Polock, whadaya think??? Dave!!!!!!

BTW: In the second picture of my lift,[actually,it's in several of the pictures]the Triumph Lifting Stand, which some of the guys on here have inquired about, the one I bought is settin next to the rear wheel on top of the Black Jack scissors jack.It has a couple pieces of wood settin on it.So for those of you wanting to know what it is or looks like, there it is. Dave!!!
