Spoke to Chris at EuroTech regarding Hepco & Becker accessories for the TBird. He has posted on-line those that are now available. Thought you all might like to know of this other source:

Has anybody in this forum actually bought and mounted the Hepco & Becker Buffalo bags on the Thunderbird?

I saw the Triumph panniers at my dealer yesterday and was not too impressed. Seems to me this is the single biggest disadvantage for commuting compared to my Tiger 1050 with a Givi plastic top box. I'm worried about how to carry my laptop bag back & forth to work on the daily commute.

But otherwise, looking forward to riding the TBird in blue.

Hi Mike,

The Hepco & Becker bags are the way I'm going! I don't have them yet as I'm trying to find out what kind of fixing mount to have:
- C-Bow
or
- EDGE (Ghost) Brackets

I also was not impressed with the Triumph bags - I didn't like how the volume inside was taken away from the plastic moulding.

Once I'm further with my investigations I'll report back.

Hi Birdy,

I just got back from Polo in Bern, hoping to see the Hepco & Becker bags "live" rather than in the catalog. No luck! Guess I'll have to range further afield... or wait patiently(?) for your report

I agree, there's the mount question - and then of course the relative positioning on the bike with these two options.

Was at the dealer just now have the oil & filter changed.
While there I looked once again at the Triumph and H&B's Saddlebags. H&B are DEFINATLY the way to go.

Just I have another 'situation' now... Progress Suspension!

Question is - if I were to get the Progressive's that lower the Bird 1" then woud the saddlebags come too close to the exhausts?!?

Need to measure the distance of the H&B's to the exhaust NOW - with my 105 kg - then calculate what the distance would be when the Bird is lowered...

Just wait a few weeks and Progressive will come out. They are working on it.

FWIW, I contacted Hepco & Becker yesterday evening to ask whether the C-Bow pannier mounts are designed to be easily dismounted from the bike, like the EDGE brackets. They were very friendly and quick in their response and said that they would not usually be dismounted, but if one wanted to do so this could be done in a few minutes, as each side is fixed with only two screws.

Seems to me that the choice between EDGE Brackets and the Hepco & Becker C-Bow system depends on:
a. Do I want to often dismount the saddlebags and the bracket after having used them, and am I willing to have the bracket's sharp edges attached to the bag while I carry it? Choose EDGE Brackets.
b. Do I want to use the saddlebags all the time, seldom dismounting them, but when I travel be able to dismount the bags to e.g. carry them to my tent/hotel room without sharp edges but leaving an unsightly bracket visible on my TBird? Choose C-Bow.

As in my past experience I seldom dismounted the bags once they were on the bike, I am leaning to b. But I'd still like to see them in real life before plonking down the chuffs (CHF).

... or:

c. Would I really only use the saddlebags 3 or 4 times a year for those 'club runs'. Thereby making that 10 minute C-Bow installation a factor not worth thinking about.

Additionally - I've seen that the C-Bow fitting holds the saddlebags much more stable as they have a larger 'Bracket to Bag' contact area.

BUT, they do not fit together with the Triumph Sissi bar and this looks much better then the H&B one.

I will continue now in steps: first install the original s-b and then I will see what will fit. Maybe I end with the solution that my wife follows me with the car so I dont need ANY bags...

Hi everybody, my first post at this forum.

I was thinking of buying the Hepco & Becker engine crash bar for my TB. Any opinions on that? Might want to add some highway pegs later.

Polo-Motorrad in Germany sent some 15% discount code and after that the price seems reasonable. I'm just not sure about looks.
