I wrote an email to Vance & Hines trying to convince them to make an exhaust for the Thunderbird. Here's the reply:

Sorry, no chance in the near future. In fact, your the first request I've received for pipes on the Trumpet T-Bird.

So maybe a few of our members here could write a nice email to:

dgates@vanceandhines.com

It would be nice to have another American made option for the Thunderbird.

It surprises me a little that a company like V&H is behind the curve on this one. As the popularity of the T-Bird continues to grow, I think the mindset among many of the aftermarket companies will change too.

I love my short TORs, but I would love to see what the V&H design team could come up with. They make some really nice pipes.

Done, here's the email I sent them just a little while ago. I suppose sometimes people need a little kick in the butt. Here my size 7.5!

Isn't it about time V & H started thinking about a more progressive twin like the Triumph Thunderbird 1600-1700 & Storm? We all know the accolades of the HD but there are certain other motorcycles like the Thunderbird who could use your touch on the exhaust and aftermarket performance parts. Who better then to do it the Vance and Hines. I'm old enough to remember when you guys started up in the business and drag raced yourselves into the record books. Infact, I remember how progressive you used to be with a large variation of performance parts.

How about thinking with a bit of that old progression you all used to have and point it towards a long standing brand like Triumph. A really nice set of exhausts would be a good thing for us and you.

I guess, Terry and Byron must have lost a bit of that ole' spunk they used to have, which they put into every product they produced. Come'on boys you're missing the mark here. There's more than HD folks that would like to utilize your expertise.

Sincerely

HP I could feel and a sound different from most other harleys. I'm in, I'll send them a request too, can't hurt. man catless 2 into 1 for the storm... I'm gettin a chubby just thinkin about it.

Hi All !

Will stand corrected if I'm wrong ..... But Vance & Hines are ownen by Harley Davidson. In part, if not whole ??
Had 5 Harley's last one 2007. All had V&H pipes !!

They carry out all the "Stage Tuning" development work, before a new model is released.

I would think it very unlikely, they will do...or be allowed to do...systems for there main rivals ?

There was never a clash of interests with "Sport Bike" systems.

Shame ! Cos V&H realy know ther stuff.....

V&H makes pipes for quite a few metric cruisers, so why not the thunderbird? I don't think V&H is owned by HD, but I have no proof other than it's not advertised and I couldn't find any information regarding whether they own them or not.

V&H is owned by a larger consortiump, Motorsport Aftermarket Group (Link Ranges from Roland Sands Design, Motorcycle News, Progressive Suspension, and others.

Would love to see some V&H options for our bikes, but compared to the sum of all other cruisers out there, the T-bird is small potatoes when you consider ROI.

+1

I have no doubt that Harley is their 'cash cow', but they do indeed make pipes for most of the popular metric cruisers... except the T-Bird. I'm sure it's more of a numbers game for them. Why spend the money on R&D for a new platform until they have a good estimate of the profitability? Of course, the current state of our economy isn't helping much either.

I e-mailed them quite some time back (because I, like many of you like their product) and I did not receive any response back from them.

Hi Guys !

The information as to the owership of V&H, was given to me by HD dealership...
I had pre-ordered a "Superglide Custom" & was told there would be a delay, as there were so many new models coming out @ that time, that V&H were running late with develpment. (problems get'n round the anti tamper stuff)

The dealer @ that time had 3 or 4 outlets in uk, so took him @ his word & the information to be correct

There are some pretty good "Jap" metric's out there... But Triumph have had a good following in the US & they do feel a threat.

Same dealership owner was "Not Allowed" to open a Triumph dealership in UK...conflict of interests !!
Again I took the information to be correct & true....Why would he lie ??

If V&H did a set of pipes for the T-Bird in the future ? Would I buy them ??? Damm right I would !!
