G'day all,

I am new to Triumph and although I been riding for years would appreciate any assistance on Storm accessories.
I will pick up my new Storm in a week or so and was considering the following accessories but would like some feedback from those that have them or have found better after market items.

Seat - previously had Mustang seats cosidering Long haul solo and pillion to allow for solo only cruising 90% touring 10%, does the solo seat only cover all fittings or do you need to put a rack on also?;
Luggage - previous K Drive bags with Edge brackets considering OEM but have not seen many positive posts; and
Sissy bar and rack - previous non quick release considering OEM quick release, any comments on this set up, I usually put my swag on the pillion seat and a large bag on the rack when touring.

I would like to get some/all of these accessories with the bike but don't want to waste my hard earned.

After 10 or so bikes finally getting a Trumpy and are pretty stoked to say the least.

G'day Ruddy,

Yes. I do agree with the Trumpy choice. Has always been my pick of rides.

Would recommend a Balance Pipe Decat assembly by Meercat Mufflers, along with a remap for the Triumph Short TOR mufflers, and leave the original mufflers on the bike.

Link

With respect to the K-Drive bags. I have a set of K-Drive bags from my Triumph Speedmaster which I fitted to my Thunderbird with the use of two 290mm x 25mm x 5mm stainless steel bar and 4 x bolts. I used the original mounting brackets for the Speedmaster.
The bags are still detachable as before, and I also have the Quick Release Sissy Bar, Luggage Rack Chrome, and Longhaul Pad.

With respect to the seat. I have the Longhaul Riders Seat along with the Longhaul Passenger Seat. They work quite well, especially the Riders seat, but the Passengers seat is a little firm for my lady. Most of my riding is with my better half and I should have chosen the Longhaul Touring Seat Dual. I'm maybe looking for a negotiable exchange someday.

My detachable Summer Screen Kit is definitely well worth the dollars.

All above works wonderfully well and looks good.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Triumph.

Cheers Alex

Thanks Alex,

All useful info and I am pretty much set on the solo and pillion long haul seats as my better half chooses not to ride these days and the sissy bar is a must have for touring.

Still thinking about bags.

G'day Ruddy,

I've just been through this myself for my new Storm. I shopped around online and although US and UK prices are often better than here in AUS, you need to be careful of postage charges. So email the seller first and get a quote including postage and also be careful as some places don't combine postage for multiple items.

In the end I spent my Aussie $$$$ here...

Hi Ruddy,

Good purchase decision on the storm.

Don't know if these guys ship out to OZ but for 230GBP this bag has done me well. It's 70L capacity got me around Europe on a 9 day trip with space to spare.

The long haul dual seat with rider backrest can't be beat. I'm happy with the detachable backrest. The triumph screen doesn't fit on the storm, you might consider Windvest. As for bags, settle on EZ brackets. They fit the best. I had kdrive on my rocket and though they were great. The company is out of business and I couldn't find them anywhere. Also the kdrive bracket doesn't work with the detachable backrest. Edge has some nice bags, check out the 112. I bought hardstreet SlimBags with ez's. space is a bit limited.

Thanks again everyone for the valuable information it is really quite difficult to cut through the ton of info on the net and get diffirent opinions from those that know and ride the same bike.

Still waiting for a quote on some of the OEM parts but think I will contact fast Eddy to check prices and what's on offer.

Been told the bike will be available early next week.....can't wait.

G'day Dougl,

I like the look, way they open and ability to lock the 112 bags, adding them to my wish list.

G'day Dumble_Storm,

Nice picture of the bike and view, I spent a week riding my Vstar 1300 in Tasmainia recenctly and thought that was cold but that's nothing compared to Austria.

Intend to use the Storm 90% for cruising and 10% for serious touring 3000-5000Km trips so I'm looking for a screen with good wind protection in winter also.

These are pretty large bags. You need to decide if you want them to fit behind the shocks or to cover the shocks. With the OEM detachable backrest, the EZ bracket hardware goes outside of the backrest mounting hardware so you have this EZ spindle sticking out which the EZ bracket mounts on. However, the EZ bracket doesn't stick out far enough for a bag with a flat back to clear the shock. The Hardstreet Slimbag does clear the shock because it has a cutout in the front. With my setup (detachable backrest), a 1/4" spacer between the EZ bracket and the back of the bag would allow it to clear the shock. However, without the detachable backrest, you'd be about an inch closer to the fender.

There's a place in OZ that supposedly sells K-Drive bags. The Vartex bags look great and are indestructible. The mounting is really nice - much more efficient than EZ brackets. When you figure out your final setup with backrest/sissy bar, I would strongly suggest checking this link out:

If you don't get a reply soon enough, send him an email, from experience, I think he reads emails more often than a PM

G'day Smitty,

I have sent Fast Eddy a PM and two emails over the last week as I am looking to buy the pro tac back rest and Edge brackets along with asking a bit of advice.
Does he normally check his emails/forum regularly or should I look somewhere else to buy from?

I don't have anything on the fender under the rack perhaps it's just the shadow from the rack

K-Drive is now owned by Cs4 in Belgium. The make a mounting bracket for the Storm but the bags are only 41L to fit behind the shocks and the bracket won't mount over the OEM sissy bar, which I have. I mounted Slimbags on Easy Brackets but they're too small. I'm replacing them with Cs4 Cs 33i bags which are 50L. I believe I've seen Cs4 on the web in Oz or NZ.
