| Posted : 03 Nov 2012 - 21:31 Post title : Need the dimensions of the dual touring seat | | Hi folks, is there someone out there who can tell me the width of the passenger part of the dual touring seat. I want to buy a sissy bar but I don't want the Triumph one as this means altering the easi brackets for luggage, (ok I'm lazy). I've found a couple on the internet but some of them will not be wide enough to straddle the passenger seat, (or I don't think they will). If anyone has the measurements, or even better a suggested combination that will allow me to use my easi brackets, then it will be greatly appreciated. The easi brackets fit onto the last two bolts of the rear mudguard. Cheers

I have that set up, and it's 11 inches wide. Don't know much about the easy brackets, but I have the Triumph removable sissy bar. I has some standoff and the bar just clips on. It is also exactly 11 inches wide.
Can't you get longer bolts and stack the easy brackets outside the sissy bar. I really like the Triumph accessories.
Beefy kit, and worth the price. There has got to be a way. can you post a picture close up of the brackets.\ I forgot what they look like. Just need a spacer or something, maybe.

I'm going to get the long haul seats as a start then take it from there. I had wrongly assumed the supports for the sissy bar will come up the sides of the passenger seat and so thought the sissy bar will have to be wider than the seat. This needn't be the case if the sissy bar support legs come up at the back of the passenger seat. So, one step at a time. Seats first then sissy bar.

Pretty sure you only need new studs (standoffs) to accept both the brackets and the sissy bar. make sure you get the quick release sissy bar, though! All of the sissy bars, both Triumph and aftermarket, use the fender bracket bolts for attachment. So seat width, as you've found, is not a problem whether standard OEM or "long haul" 1piece or 2 piece.

When you order the easy brackets, get the ones suited to the sissy bar. Same brackets, just different mounting bolts as they attach to the two forward fender bracket bolts, not the two rear as they do without a sissy bar.
Another point is when you unlock the sissy bar, the lock will actually catch on the pillion seat. All you need to do is unlock, lift out of the catch and then lock again before completely removing the quick release sissy bar. This avoids catching on the seat.
Here is a pic showing the space for the sissy bar between the fender rail and the easy bracket. Cheers Smitty

All you need to do is order the longer bolts for your brackets and as they say Robert is your mother's brother . I did have to fiddle with positioning the holes to fit the brackets and you may need to do the same to swap over but there is a thread here somewhere that describes how to do that - no probs...
