Yeah I know-I just tried a search of "abba stand" and all I got back was a blank page so I'm just going to ask.

I have an aluminum General Hydraulics bike lift that I use with the sump support board-plywood with a nice rubber mat glued to it. I know of a guy that just had his HD fall over and really frack him up with a similar type of lift. I usually lift it up and then set it on jack stands and I don't like to do it as the bird is a heavy beast for me (or anyone) It's wobbly and I would rather just have a freaking center stand. Who left it off at Triumph? Hardly any bike has one now and they all seemed to have them in the past.

The Abba Superbike stand seems to be a good idea but I recall some negative inputs about it so asking again for some first hand experience with it on our beautiful bike. I don't mind having to remove a few bolts.

I found a source in Canada that can ship for about USD 250. Seems steep but cheaper than having it fall over even with front and rear dresser bars.

Thanks,

fishy

I picked up one a couple of weeks ago. Tried the hydraulic lift (Harbour Freight) but it is a two man operation and I never felt the bike was secure. The ABBA stand works great! I can lift the bike solo and it is super stable once up. That said it does take some effort to pivot it up and I had to take off the luggage rack, backrest and saddlebags. It is not so much the added weight as the moment arm of the add -ons so far from the stand pivot point. Don't waste your money on the optional front end lift, it is too short for the Thunderbird and a common floor jack works just fine.

I've used one of these several times and think its absolutely brilliant. It's so simple and easy to use and I agree, to lift the front just use an ordinary jack.

I've been looking for one (Abba Stand) for some time but, like I said in a previous post........lotta money to raise the rear a few inches. Where exactly did you find it and what was the cost? If less than $250 including shipping I'd be interested. I was told to use the Canadian distributor who wanted $250 +shipping.

Here is the email back to me: from

bsrtech@xplornet.com

"We first got onto the Abba stands after I dropped a
Ducati 999 taking it off a spool stand. The Abba is the only one that I know
of that allows control on the bike all the way through the lift. You will
love it."

The price is $249.90 shipped to your address. Yes we take Visa our telephone
number is 519 475 9055

Cheers

Tony

I'm going to get one after the good reports from this post. I too am unhappy with lifting the Thunderbird on just the sump but I do put it up on 3 jack stands when it's up and then it's really solid.

I just posted a thread where I built a bracket that mounts to my hydraulic bike lift (Sears) that makes it very stable. I am sure that the General Hydraulics jack is similar enough that what I have built could be adapted to work. I've got roughly $20 invested in materials, but you will need to do some welding. The thread is in the Technical Talk forum. Might be an alternative for you instead of buying another lift.

X-farmer, that is great thinking on your part. 20 bucks beats 250 and I already have the stand. Thanks for this great idea.
I know Triumph makes a similar bracket but it seems way over priced.

I'd sure like to see a picture of the bracket Triumph sells, to compare measurements with what I built.
