Been looking for a piece of chrome to dress up the existing horn or a replacement horn that isn't in the shape of a skull. Found this one on ebay for $38. There doesn't seem to be much out there to suit the Bird. Anyone had any luck?

Dan, I jumped the gun a while ago and bought a Zebel whatever which turned out to be too big and the wrong shape for me to fit anywhere. These look the goods and I reckon I can find a spot to fit them both, even if it is on the dresser bars, thanks

try fiamm

got them on the bonnie.

they do a similar shape one to the oem so mounting would be a doddle, but you buy a pair ( if you can find a supplier) with offset tones so a matching bracket the other side would look balanced.

I don't mind going through cowboy trucker sites but I draw the line at biggayboys.com. Didn't think you would want a huge knob stuck on your bike. Thought the horns might look ok though.

Actually never thought of changing the horn. I am not keen on the 'Honk' type. Would prefer something like an Italian car sort of thing.

You have me thinking now. Not that I use it much, usually forget to use it while shouting ''F''cking w''ker retard bast''d'' and other such made up names.

Be interested to see what you come up with - horns that is, not new names for idiots.

Mat,

Yeah I totally agree. This is purely cosmetic mod for me. The only reason I have a horn is to pass rego inspections. I don't think I've ever used a horn on a bike. Normally I just twist the throttle and get myself out of trouble - not sound my horn and hope they get it right....

I'm not sure if the horn is like the front radiator in the sense that if you keep them black they seem to blend into the bike and are not noticed which is a good thing IMO.

Just thought there may be a flash piece of chrome out there that was mildly associated with Triumph / british etc instead of skulls and flames like every other tool out there.

Nashville,

Thanks for that. I like the idea of the chrome. Yours looks like a direct replacement for the original but only chrome. Might be my only real option.

I'll keep looking.......

Dan

That's the one Dan, how do we get one of those?

Jamie, I once would have agreed with you but you've heard my voice now, some of us can't yell like we once did, and I'm sick of the tin tops thinking that my space is there's too. I now rely on the noise from the pipes but sometimes a blast from a really loud horn could help.

The replacement I bought claimed to go to 139db which is VERY loud but I can't find a spot to mount it where it would be effective, so I'm back to the drawing board.

By the way what did we get back to before there were drawing boards???

Cheers, Max

Thats both you and Max that have asked if I am an Aus. I will check back on my Criminal record and see if I was missed out on free passage.

Anyway - back to surfin' Dan and his horn.

G'day Mate,

Link

That should be a link to one i stumbled across on Fast Eddys site while looking for 1 1/4" risers.
I found that horn in the Thunderbird section of his site, so i presume they fit.... and click on the sound sample link, it sounds like a bloody freight train too !

Cheers.

Hi Nux, that looks very similar, in terms of size and shape, to the Sebel that I bought. I haven't found a good place to mount it yet. I went off early when I bought it and that is why I'm still looking. The ones at the start of the thread look the best so far. It would be good if they came in slightly different tunes so that with two mounted the tone would give a better warning.

Mind you if anyone can show me how to mount the Sebel I already have I would be grateful and then mount it.

Cheers, Max
