osted : 06 Nov 2012 - 21:58 Post title : Re: Dyno Results (Re: TarkMalbot) Hi everyone, I have been reading several posts for some weeks now on pipes, maps tunes, air filters, seat air ducts etc. Firstly: thanks, everyones input over the years, has been well recieved.
Secondly: I decided upon, bought and installed a pair of BC Hogslayers and have dropped my 2012 TBird1600 off to a Triumph Dyno Tuner, to have a Tune Boy map installed along with a K&N hi flow filter, ( leaving my one piece Long Haul seat air ducts on ). I have learnt once the ECU is correctly mapped to suit the bike, it should ( technically ) never have to altered there after. Instead of buying a full mapping kit, I am only buying an installed map and dyno for $660 total excluding the filter cost. In that of bike mechanics, I will leave it to the Pro's.( realistically and respectfully, electronics and tuning software is not my department).
Tomorrow is the big day, I will let you Know how it, goes.
Cheers. Bussa.

Smitty, I did exactly what your going to do and it seems to me that my bike runs better after dynotune and its still the same now. The way I can tell is that it ran rough at slow cruise with Tor tune but smooth now but it will still pop some on hard decel or like someone said loaded on a downhill off throttle run. I'm running a 1600. |

My bike responded similarly to intimidator32. It was running lean and rough ( cat removal ). Left the bike parked up until the tune.
The results of the mapping filter and Dyno were as I expected. I picked up 7% torgue increase ( I expected 5 to 7 % ). The bike is breathing the way it should, smoothly and spirited. there is Plenty of Torque and Power, and the Pick Up is very Responsive.
The only part that was taken off, was the rubber seal on the top of the filter box, for added air intake. The triumph dyno tuner (also triumph dealer ). did state it was ok to put the seal back for short periods, when traveling long stretches of gravel roads.
I still have decel popping, " that's a Triumph " ( injected or carbs ).
I have also been told by the tuner (unquoted ) that the auto tune only plays an air altitude roll when riding through extreme Continent location temperature changes e.g. Alaska / South America, and only alters a very small percentage of air /fuel settings. On the overall, it definitely, will not alter the new mapping. the only way the mapping can be altered is if somebody tinkers with it...
*** On that note Smithy I understand your caution to the matter ***
I will be doing some lengthy open road riding and will keep you posted.
Cheers, Bussa.

| currently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually

I had a good open road ride today, I am impressed, the Tbird gunns along.
Enjoy your ride, Cheers.

Because they only have narrow band O2 sensors which operate under fairly wide but still limited range of throttle position and RPM, they can't add the extra fuel you'll need at higher TP and RPM with a freer flowing exhaust or intake. However, before you spend a lot of money on custom tuning, you can always bring it to a dyno shop and have the A/F and power tested for not too many bucks. There's a range of A/F which is acceptable. If it's not running too lean and the power curve is smooth, you don't have to do anything. If it is running lean, it will accept more fuel and you'll get more power.
