The length doesn't matter as much as the diameter (insert dirty joke here...) Anyhow, as long as they're long enough, they can be trimmed down if necessary. There is enough extra depth to the female ends of the pipe fitment to absorb any excessive length, and the back end of the pipes can be tilted fore/aft to help accommodate. You can easily trim the connecting pipes as needed with a hack saw after you do a mock-up.

I can't say, but i can tell you 2 things. 1- 150mm (6") is probably short. 2-the elbows many have used when cut in half i believe are 8" each, and they are probably longer that the cat but they DO fit. So 7" is probably doable. But there the thing....because you will no longer have a mounting point with the cat gone, the longest pipe you can make fit will make for a more stable rigid joint. If it's not clear why, look at it like this. Lets say you have a length that allows the pipes to insert int the header and muffler 1" deep. Clamp them as tight as possible, but still there is not the same rigidity. another example....say you need a stick 10 feet long and you have two 5 foot 5 inch pieces and you splint them together overlapping 5 inches then taping around them. You can see they would move pretty easily and the stick would not take any pressure and would not be very rigid. But if you had two 7foot pieces and overlapped then by 2 feet it would be far more rigid. So i would look at pieces about 8" long for strength. You might however want to go to a hardware store and measure a 90 degree elbow because i THINK it was 19", but i may be off. Oh, and in UK numbers i'm talking about 200mm each. So if you have the option of buying any length you want, i'd get them at least 200mm long, a bit more if you wanna be safe since you can always cut them.

Actually it just hit me i think the elbow i bough was longer than i said, and i think it's actually right about where those are, 250mm. So you may not even have to trim them. But i don't see what it says 250mm, so i assume you asked the seller?

I just measured my second set of cut elbows (I bought two just in case) and each half is about 9.25" or 235mm so you should be just fine with the 250mm ones you ordered. They slide pretty far into the header pipes and mufflers so I don't think you'll end up having to cut anything.

This is what I used before I fitted the Foran pipes and cat replacement tube, hopefully it might help.

You 1600 guys really need a decat tune to share ! You should get together and come up with a group buy where you all split the cost of a dyno tune for one of ya from a shop that will use tuneECU then share the tune. There are a few shops that will use it, so if you get one guy that lives near one to have it done at say $300-500, and you get 20 guys going in at $300, you'd only pay $15 each ! Theres a post over at the RAT forum i believe where they list the few shops that will tune with tuneECU. I'm using a decat tune and i'm telling you, way more power, and no popping. However, if you're not into that idea, Dizze has posted about how he changed a few cells in his decat map's fueling with tuneECU to make it pop less. And i'm using that map with no popping to speak of. The same or even less than i had with the tors map, which was next to nothing. But you guys really need a decat tune. You're just missing out on some nice performance gains.

Daz, I had mine dyno tuned with tune boy the results were greatly reduced popping except on very hard decel were it will still pop but just not as bad and it smoothed
out the low speed jerkiness so yeah I would recommend a dynotune for anyone who decats their bird.

If you're on a 1600 would you mind posting the tune when you get it done?

I believe he's being sarcastic, possibly misread my post saying $10 EACH if a lot of people go in on having someone dyno thiers and share the tune.

In any case, what about you intimidator32 ? Is yours a 1600, and if so does anyone know how to transfer all timing and fueling within a TB map to a tuneECU map? If so, you 1600 guys should be on this ! Doesn't matter to me since I'm already running Dizze's decat map. But woulda thought you 1600 guys would be chomping at the bit to get your hands on a proper decat map !

Seriously? Wow. I wonder why even charge you 10, seems odd. Thats great tho. If you get a good 1600 decat tune out of this you should post it in the repository. this will be a great thing for all the 1600 decat guys !

What it is they guy who works at the dyno garage used to work at the local triumph shop as their main mechanic so he has plenty of experience with these bikes which is a bonus,he has the TuneECu and said he would like to tune my Tbird when i ve done the de-cat and he said a tenner in his pocket and asked me to send other triumph owners his way and he has qouted me a very good price for the work on a BB kit so im not complaining I will post the print out when ive had it done should be good to see the before and after tune

If you are able to get the tune to post here, now that would be outstanding. Looking forward to seeing the results.

daz, the guy that did my tune only gave me printout of the dyno results (75hp,102fpt.)maybe i should ask him for the complete map since its tune boy don't know if it would help anyone but i'll effort it next week the reason i didn't go with tune ecu was i dont have a windows computer anymore i'm all apple now

Intimidator, I have an Apple, too and I use TuneECU. Download a program called Parallels and you can run windows in a window on your mac. I use an old version of Windows XP and it does everything I require when I need to run something like TuneECU. It's awesome and well worth the $80 or whatever it is to purchase the software. I'm sure you're familiar with Bootcamp, but it's a pain in the ass. With Bootcamp you have two operating systems on your computer and have to switch between the two so a reboot is required each time you change your OS. With Parallels Windows runs in OSX so you can use them both simultaneously. Everything I've needed to do Windows wise has worked fine with Parallels.

So today finally finished de-catting my 1600 Tbird, went for a ride and it was popping and banging all over the place, anyway went to triumph shop and he put in a 1700 (after market silencer and air filter) map (free of charge aswell) and what a difference absolutely no pops or bangs and running really smooth and really flys through the revs now reach 100mph very quickly now apart from slightly higher tick over but that settles down after a few seconds sitting, but tell you what its really loud Dogs were barking as i rode past old people covering their ears kids covering thier ears and the odd dirty look off general public but it made me grin so im happy

That is interesting because when talking to my dealer last week that is exactly what he recommended. 1700 tors tune.

Yes it's interesting as silverfish's tune (in the tune repo thread page 2) was 20306 (1600) with the 20310 (1700) F&L tables which is what I'm running right now, with which I had no problems keeping up with about 75 Hd's (excluding those damn V rods) on a roll the dice run on Saturday, it still pops on decel a little bit, but that just adds to it's charm.

When I get my cable back from a certain South Aussie , I might upload that tune and see how it goes, thanks for the heads up.

Also I saw had a vision in my dreams last night, that probably during next winter I will be getting the 1700 BB kit fitted
