Just taken my T'bird in to the dealer to have the thermostat leak fixed (seems there is a modified housing now).

The guy there asked what courtesy bike I'd like to play with for the day, so I chose the Speed Triple 1050.

What the fuck were the designers thinking? Seems there are no rider's footpegs, only ones for the pillion. And Why does the pillion have control of the rear brake & gears? Luckily I managed to bend my poor old legs back far enough to reach them, but then all my weight was on my arms. And when I brake, all 15 stone is now pushing on my arms (wtf).

On the plus side, it goes like stink and handles beautifully, but they need to get some rider footpegs fitted really or it's never going to sell

Can't wait 'till 1:00 when I can get my beloved comfortable bird back

You must be an early 57 cos I have a speedtriple and really enjoy riding it, my obviously younger legs have no problems getting back to the pegs even with a 36" inside measurement and you are corect about the handling and performane

Took mine in this week as the cam belt adjuster unit had gone tits-up.

So the child in me made me take the Street Triple R for the day.
I think any longer than a day and I would lose my license, if only I had room in the garage for 2 bikes.

I can't ride anything where hips and knees bend at less than 90 degree angle.

When I had the Bonneville, the dealer's loan bike was a Street Triple. It felt weird then; gawd knows what it would feel like after the 'Bird!

WAS fun, though.... if a bit.... flimsy...

Yes, the Street is a totally different bike and ride, but it is so light and manouverable, and the Street Triple R does it so much better.
No, I would not have one instead of my TBird, but every now and then I like a good adrenalin rush.

The Speed Triple I borrowed was so damn light and manoeuvrable and could pop the front wheel easily enough and I can see the attraction, but I just couldn't stand all the weight on my arms (maybe if I stopped eating the pies and lost 3 or 4 stone.....but that ain't going to happen)

By the way, another post and I'll hit 300. Do I get some kind of award or prize for this momentous milestone?

By the way (again), I'm sending my wheels to get powder coated black tomorrow and will pick them up & fit them after I get back from honeymoon in a couple of weeks time. Should make the bike a bit darker and meaner. I'll post some pics then (of the bike, NOT the honeymoon antics.......ok maybe just one)

Ok that's 300 posts, please send my award to the usual address
