Can anyone post a picture of the updated pillion bracket (the part that goes on the fender) I was given 2 pillion seats, and 2 brackets with my bike and i'm not sure which one is the updated one. Thanks

Axxman,

Really sorry about this. I took this picture the day you asked and then promptly got busy with things and forgot to post it.

The original bracket is on the right. The new, after recall bracket is on the left. The old bracket and new seat hardware are not compatible with each other. You can't even switch the new seat hardware over to an old seat as they changed the bottom of the pillion pad as well as the brackets.

Hope this helps.

glad to help. Do you know which pillion seat is the new one as well? I can take a shot of that too if you need.

Sure that would be great, as the brackets on the bottom of the 2 seats do look slightly different. It's nice to know for sure which is which.

Thanks again Thatch!!

I was a bit more timely with this one...

The older pillion is on top, newer on bottom. The main visual differences are the step up on the plate just to the left of the front bolt on the old/white pillion and the much shorter round post on the original (white) pillion compared to new post-recall bracket. The pan of the new pillion is different as well but you don't initially notice those differences.

Hope that helps.

Crap! No wonder my long-haul pillion is a tad "wiggly"! Mine's a 2011 Storm, and even after asking the dealer over a year ago if mine needed the new bracket, he said no. I've been riding solo for the last month and was fiddling in the garage and looked at the pillion bracket on my table. It's the same as the one on the right! So NOT the "updated"/correct one.

Anyone know what VIN was applicable? Mine's a 2011, bought in June. Last few digits 487578. Maybe they'll have the new bracket in stock when/if I ever get my new heat shield!!!

Sorry to be a bit thick mate, ..... can I confirm ?

Cos I have the one labelled old and I have the pillion with newer bracket (bottom seat in your picture with black cover) , thats how I got it new from Triumph.

.... the next odd thing is that my long haul passenger saddle bracket is different to both the standard ones in your picture !

Sprint - Me too! I have the one on the right, but the stock pillion has the "new" posts, etc. I even got the long-haul 2 piece setup and the LH pillion looks to have the "new" config.

No problem. Yeah, the one on the right is the old/original one. The white seat above is the recovered original pillion pad that came on the bike as well. The two 'new' items are what I received after the recall that was issued on those parts (initiated in part by the trouble I had with the original bracket). Now I can't say for sure what they are doing with new birds and what they are outfitting them but as of the 2009 release of the 2010 pre-ordered birds these are the different bits that were used. I know I can't use these pieces together.
