You just need to learn ALL about TuneECU. Link With that software and cable, drivers, etc, you can try other maps, if you follow the instructions. Big learning curve but we will help, if you do the homework.

This bike already has very snappy performance. That performance, OTH, necessarily decreases with rider and gear weight.
So, if 1600 is a superior bike for you, it can be made better in the power range at around 2500 rpm. Significantly more foot pounds of torque can be applied to the road safely, without the Cat. It will take much more fuel in that sweet spot, and it will be less loud with the tune.
To take off the CAT and run the standard TOR tune will reduce that low torque to below stock.
The Custom tunes bring it back, well above stock. It won't go any faster, in total. It just goes faster, much fasterly.

DizzE's post above gives a good answer to Weasel's query on torque & performance, so from that perspective it looks worth doing if performance is what your seeking - assuming you can find the optimum tune so you don't rot up what you've got.
Not trying to hijack Weasel's original thread here, but what I still don't know is what the thing will sound like with the cat removed and stock pipes fitted. For me, I'd like the bike to sound a little less gagged, less like a sewing machine, and more like what it is without being as loud as, say, the bypass and short TORS - which are nice, but are too loud for my Missus!
I've read dozens of posts on this subject, but they always seem (naturally enough) to branch off towards what others have achieved with this and that model of TORS, after market pipes, etc. They would, wouldn't they, if better and better performance is the goal. Before this one does that too can I just ask this:
Is anyone actually running (or has run) a cat bypass with the stock silencers? If so, what are your observations on sound and performance and what tunes have you tried to what effect?

I am looking here to find what tune a Storm should have when one does this. I will report back what I hear when I do this. But if anyone knows a tune #, I'd really appreciate them shooting me in that direction for my '12 tbird storm.
