Brisan Motorcycles here on the east coast at Newcastle are having a special deal on Metzeler Tyres.
Front and back balanced and fitted $457 AUD. Save yourself $200........
Good deal for those that want to stay with Metz

I've been thinking of becoming a shill for Michelin ! Granted, i haven't had mine long. But in just the last few rides far I'm beginning to think they may handle better than the metz. They feel sticky like glue to the touch, and they are smooth. You can really feel a smoother ride with less vibes. To top it off i believe the they may well last much longer and are a LOT cheaper. (about $150 USD vs about $200 USD) I was a total metz fanboy except for the low mileage they get, but i think this michelin is probably a better tire. I say probably only because i haven't had it long enough to insure it sticks as well and don't know the longevity. But at this point it appears to handle and stick as well or better, if i had to pick one i'd say better. And michelin says it will double metzeler's mileage. So if they are wrong and it only equals it, you still have a tire thats smoother, probably handles a bit better, and costs 25% less.

I know it's off the thread subject, but i think this could be the tire we're all looking for, especially if it lasts even another 2k or so which i think it may judging by trad depth and michelin's bold statement. The size is 55 which is the only downside (if it even is) in that it sits a tad higher. Bad for short people maybe tho better for ground clearance, if not by enough to really matter. It does correct the speedo error almost. (still about a mph off) It also seems to cause slightly less acceleration due to making for a higher gearing ratio. But even that has benefits in cruising speed up high. And i'm comparing it to a completely worn out 50, so.....

well i like the metz

good in the dry and wet... so far.

did try the avon and that was ok too but passed the bike on before it got really wet or worn out so no idea on what its like in the wet or how long it would last.

id go with the metz again or the avon, just would rather spend a few bob more for a tyre that im confident with

Me too, but i took a chance in hopes of a longer lasting cheaper alternative, and i've gained a lot of confidence it this tire so far. But we'll see as i go further with it. Right now i don't want to push it too hard too fast because i want to let myself gradually get up to speed with it to be sure and safe. But i feel like i could go full out right now with confidence. And it's not like i haven't pushed it at all.....i have. Just not to the limit. If it turns out to be as good as i feel it is at this point, it will be a no brainer between this and the metz.

I just ordered a Commander this afternoon for my new back up tire cause I only have a few thousand left on my Dunlop before I try my Exedra rear tire.As for the Mrets,I'll just bet cha they burn real good.Of course,if you were stuck out in the middle of no wheres and needed a tire, and the Mets was the only tire available.I guess it would be better then nothing. Dave!!!

I have heard that Metzeler have dropped their prices in OZ. I have gone through two sets of them and now am running a bridgestone battlax on the rear and exedra on the front and find them to be really good. They are also wearing well and I have done about 6500 kms so far with little or no wear. They turn in well and are a good allrounder. I think I paid about $500 for the pair fitted.

It is also interesting to note that some people like Pirelli tyres but not Metzelers yet they are owned by the same company. Not sure how much similarity the two brands have but they are similar tyres.

Both my front and rear Exedra Max tires are wearing well. I don't think I'll get much more from the rear than I did with the Metz, but they haven't started cupping yet and were at least $100 less than the Metz.

The Metzeler front tire seemed much more planted to me, however. Might be that I was simply more used to them. Time will tell, but I haven't decided if I'll get another set of Exedras.
