WELL, AFTER 500 + MILES WITH THE HOGSLAYERS I SURE AM GLAD I DIDN'T DUMP THE BIG BUCKS FOR THE FORAN PIPES THAT I WAS CONSIDERING. HOGSLAYERS HAVE A GREAT SOUND. VERY DEEP AND BALLSIE. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANY VIDEO CLIPS YET THAT GIVE THE TRUE SOUND OF THESE PIPES. YOU JUST GOTTA HEAR THEM IN PERSON. VERY HAPPY WITH THESE AND IT'S A ONE STEP PIPE TO ELIMINATE THE CAT.

Considering that I could buy 3 sets of Hogslayers to 1 set of Foran pipes I think I made a very wise decision! Foran pipes may sound good but they don't sound $1600 good that's for sure!

Didn't notice my caps key was on, sorry

What is the general consensus on these pipes as far as the cruising sound in highway traffic. Being in Md, do you do much travel on the Beltway? My ride down here in Tampa is about an hour in bumper-to-bumper conditions at about 70-80 mph. I am trying to find something that showcases the power of the engine, but is also loud enough to let the idiot next to me notice me over his/her chatting, texting, eating or reading while on the highway. Every 3rd car I pass seems to be at least on the phone. (Unfortunately, my brother found out a few years ago that carrying steel bearings and chucking them at cars is apparently illegal -- who knew? So I need another way to get attention.)

Currently I am running Short TORS with a pair of 1/2 inch holes in them. They sound great under throttle, but quiet down while at speed. While idleing at a traffic light, I noticed that it actually idled with a sound similar to the classic camaro that was next to me. Almost a V6 like rhythm when I am wearing a full face helmet. Different sound of course when wearing a half-helmet. I am hoping to get a good rumble that can be heard by the idiot next to me.

Any thoughts on the volume of these?

I switched from the long TORS to the Hogslayers. The volume of the Hogslayers under throttle lets everyone know your there. Makes it sound like a true 1600cc motor with balls. As with all pipes, once you settle down at a cruising speed they get a little quieter. As soon as you crack the throttle they wake up. I do a average amount on the beltway and sound wise seem to blend right in with the rest while cruising but get on the throttle and they can hear you. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. One thing I have noticed with the sound of my pipes is that it has definitely developed as time has gone by. It has deepened and become louder in the 2K miles since I drilled it out. I would assume the sound of the hogslayers will change as they ripen. One of my buds has a Deuce that is so loud that if we want to talk at a stoplight, he actually has to turn his bike off. I hope I never own a bike that loud.

The hogslayers do change over time. The sound is much 'raspier' over time. They have a sharp angry tone to them. At cruising speed they do quite down BUT they are still quite a bit louder than the TOR pipes.

On the issue of coloring, yes the Hogslayers do turn color at the joint. I didn't have any visible bluing (there was some under the heat shields though). but the pipes did go golden about 6-8" past the shield. Personally I liked that look, someone going for the super chrome spotless bike might not.
