Hi John,

I'm running my tune. The 20306 with 20310 f&l tables only. I did try DizzE's tune and the bike went a lot better but I wasn't happy with the "turbo lag" effect it was giving. I think this had to do with the 1700 cam profiles being different from the 1600

silverfish.

I posted some comparison profiles. The only real difference is the 1700 CAMs have almost no valve overlap. But, the 1600 has, (from memory) 20 degrees or so overlap. Both intake and exhaust valves are open. It aids the scavenging of the exhaust gas. So, therefore, there are some timing differences, as well. That may account for the lag. And running without a cat will create a lag, was well, without a fueling correction.

Hi Dizze,

I'm about to start work on this again, can you give us your view on where we 1600b boys need to add/remove fuel and how much?

Cheers,

John

Well, I wish it was that easy. But, you can start with the silverfish hybrid map. It will depend mostly on your exhaust setup.

So, let's say, no-cat and short, straight through pipes.

Then you look at the differences with 1700 and 1600, mainly, cam overlap, is much different. There are cam specs published.
And also, the spark advance. Those are the main differences. The extra 100 cc is just to increase low rev torque. So, you don't have that.
And there is no way to create it's effect with more fuel.

OK, that's all I know. Silverfish has done this, so, I would first, reproduce his ideas.

hmmm,

sound to me like it'd be easier to wait the 2k miles till 12,000 and throw the big bore in (about 6 weeks at the rate I shove mileage on).

Interestingly though these guys are close and I've spoken to them about using TuneECU and they are up for a go.
