I was thinking pillion boards may fix the problem which the SE may already have, so it is probably only a issue with the pegs on.

This didn't influence me at all, until I was doing a rapid, smart-arse U-turn, I did a quick trials-like dab of my inside foot, trapped it under the rear dresser and down we went (me & bike, not me & Mrs. Ted).
I was stook under bike in the middle of the road, face down with a wrenched ankle.
Within 24 hours the bars were on ebay.
