So to improve the "backside" comfort of my gal, I pulled the trigger on the passenger long haul seat, QR sissy bar and long haul pad, and luggage rack (so she doesn't have to backpack it when we go for long trips). I never really had a problem with the original solo seat, so thought I'd hold off until next year or something.

Oops!! Long haul passenger seat doesn't line up without the long haul rider. So dumped the other $186us on the long haul rider yesterday. Just a heads up for anyone else that was thinking of the same thing.

Shoulda dug through here a bit more to confirm. Oh well! Lesson learned.

I got caught with that one. They make a complete piece of crap for the pillion - so your forced to upgrade, but thats not enough - you got to buy the rider to match.

I've looked into this myself, but I just do'nt like the looks of Long haul seat,so I'm thinking of having the stock seat reworked to fit my boney ass. I agree the pillion seat is crap, but I think it's mainly for looks

By chance is your long haul pillion a tad "loose"? Mine doesn't seem to lock in very tight to the bracket just rear of the rider seat. Allows some side-to-side shifting/wiggling which is gonna destroy my rear fender paint when she's on the back. And getting to that rear screw is a bitch with an allen key (another reason for me to hunt the hardware bins for a knurled thumb screw instead). Poor design for over $100US if you ask me. A hell of a lot more comfort than the original "postage stamp" pillion, but not overly thrilled with it.

A little late now for this, but I chose to buy the dual long haul seat when the pillion wants to ride.

Just a little tid bit of info regarding your passenger. You might wanna pick up a piece of sheep skin, a soft pillow, or pad to put under you're ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, passenger's deriaire. Believe me,your pillion,as you guys call em,will be a lot happier. And that's with or without the long haul seat. There's nothin worse than an unhappy pillion. Wouldn't you guys agree?? Dave!!!

The original pillion was far to small to be comfortable no matter how many pillows she sat on. She's about 10 yrs younger, and has the perfect little arse, so I gotta take care of it....so it'll take care of me!

So anyone else have a "fitup" issue (loose, wiggley) long haul passenger seat. Right at the bracket near the rider seat?

It's wierd because the tiny, original pillion pad is nice and tight. Gonna measure up both pins on both seats to see what the difference is.

While I'm sure I won't regret the long haul rider, still a bit curious on this loose long-haul pillion issue. So, again, I apologize for not searching this out before diving in, but thanks to those that reminded me of the pillion bracket recall discussions. While I haven't experienced the gauging issues some of you did, I do have "marks" from the originial pillion's rubber "feet". Upon placing the new LH pillion, and simply sitting on it, I now have 6 new "circles" where those feet touch the fender. Are both standard and longhaul pillions intended to sit on the fender w/ those rubber feet? Or is the full load to be taken by the forward "L-bracket" and the pillion's fender screw bracket?

Link Talk-Tech Vault.-RECALL)&InSkin=BlackKnight&InPage=1

In this thread, there was talk of the LH seats, but no confirmation as to if the original and LH brackets needed to be different. One would think not, but again, I'll measure up to see what the actual difference is/not. It did get me thinking, though (sorry!!! that rarely works out). I purchased my LH stuff and sissy bar/rack from MADSS. I'm wondering if maybe they have "old" stock that would require modification to fit any post-recall VIN bikes/brackets??

Will report back what I do/don't find. In the mean time, wishing this friggin' cold/rain would stop so I can get out more!! Western NY got something like 10" of the white stuff the last 2 days!

Thanks fellas!

Jamie

Brad has recommended the Airhawk, so I've just ordered one and will report back as to whether it fixes my wife's skinny arse!

My problem (or, actually, hers) was the teeny, tiny, original pillion seat was too small for anyone. So long haul I went, only to find out it doesn't line up with the OEM rider seat (fits, but leaves a huge gap).

Just got my new LH rider from MADSS.com. Ordered it Friday or Saturday...was at my door TODAY!! Holy fast, batman!

Well I can tell you that I followed Brad and Toni for about 600 kms on the way to Tumbarumba, and Toni's arse seemed fine from where I was.

Sorry Brad, couldn't help it.
