I'm after a very cheap part T2100328 Radiator cowl protector , ... it is basically a very sticky piece of thick clear vinyl which protects the bottom of the radiator cowl from stone chips, but no stock anywhere .

I'm coming over to the States in a few weeks,... could any of our US pals on here tell me if they know whether this is available to them ? I will be in San Francisco on the 13th April

Thanks

John

Yeah, I should probably get a new one of those. I'm runnin' naked at the moment since the respray. The parts list I have doesn't list that bit as a separate piece (though it does show it visually broken out)

Have you considered using a generic protective tape as the one from 3M on encl link?
Link It should in the long run be cheaper.
This is what I use on the radiator and front of lower part of front fork etc. It work brilliant, and can easily be replaced when it becomes too dull.

All very interesting. My mind flew from "tape the entire bike" to "is it possible to make a bike out of duck tape."
Must send to Mythbusters. (and have more coffee)

I could just skip the repaint and go with some fashionable colors.

I know I saw some in animal prints somewhere

Thanks Pete, yes I did but I've got new and very expensive paint, I would like to do this once with the right thing and the right shape and fuggedaboutit, .... I originally posted because I just wondered whether any of our transatlantic cousins knew whether their local suppliers had any in stock.

do what ive done and go to a bike shop, purchase any old mud flap and cut it to size and the problem is solved..Also if you get caught out in the wet on a dirt road the bottom half of radiator gets absolutely clogged with mud,,not a good situation...cheers

There's no reason why an aftermarket 3M like product won't do the trick

Have a look at this kit. I have fitted the full protection kit, although I think there are still some extra areas which need to be covered it is a good start.

On flat areas it is very easy, the kit comes. With a bottle of soapy liquid, and a squeegee it is simply a case of wetting the film as you remove the backing, place it, squeeze the water out from behind and allow to dry.

Where I had a problem was on curves such as the front of the tank. Before I bought the kit I spoke to the suppliers who said the film needs to be stretched over curved areas, but I couldn't get it to sit flat and ended up with areas where it had come unstuck. I phoned the suppliers, and the answer was that I had not been brave enough with the initial stretching. When I pulled it off and reapplied, but with further stretching it has gone on with no problems at all, although on one panel I now think i haver over stretched the material, but it has not affected the protection it provides.

Thanks guys , I already have the "fenda extenda" but it still doesn't stop everything hitting the bottom edge of the rad cover, ... anyway I was a lucky bugger Jack Lilley called to say he's had one sent in by Triumph .... despite still being listed as out of stock !!!

Thatch if you want one try their mail order line, I've used them loads of time very helpful and knowledgeable.
