A couple or three pictures showing the new install of the Leather seat from the Honda Phantom that was left over
when I bobbed the frame and put on a springer seat.

I had made a simple "U" shaped bracket and used the OEM seat holes to mount the seat on the Storm.
You may notice my new bags with the Texas Ranger stars on the sides too!

Two things that came to my immediate attention on my first ride, first the seat is narrower in the front which made
it easier to reach and raise the kickstand.

Second, once underway I am sitting more level and not being forced in a 'C' shape like the stock seat put me.

Much more comfortable with the high back supporting me and being natural leather is cooler to sit on......the stitching doesn't take away from the looks either!

I really think the black and tan seat goes well with the blacked out Storm, kind of like the black and tan
on a Doberman!

What say ye? Look OK on a Storm?

John, the next time that I take it off I will get a couple of pictures, but it is nothing but a simple "U" channel shape bracket that fits into the original bolt holes.
I then used self tapping screws into the bottom of the seat to hold the bracket to the leather seat!

A small amount of twisting and tweaking and it was on there!
Yep, that's about it!

Looks good. The two tone leather works well and the narrower profile is nice. It does look like the tank and fender bags are minimizing some of the fitment issues. It looks like the Shadow had a much deeper seating area compared to the flatter bird as the seat comes away from the tank and fender quite a bit. But, with those two bags in place it's not much of an issue. It's certainly a good sample for folks thinking of recovering their stock seats.

looks good.

Thatchie,
We will have to get Brad from Walcha (keable666) to post a photo of his.
He had a pet Diamond Python ,which died , he skinned it , cured and tanned the skin and then used it for the lower part of the seat with
a dark red leather upper. Looks nasty

Here we go, another thread disintegrates into sexual innuendo's. Or is that just my dirty mind at work again.

That's a very cool looking seat.

Thatch, it actually looks much better in person than the pictures lead you to believe.
The seat is made in such a way that it looks like it really belonged to the bike.

I am working on a skirt piece for the rear of the seat that will disguise it even more.
But even with the rear fender bag off, the look is not very detrimental to the look.

I hand made the strap that holds the seat on from two pieces of metal strap and bolted it together making two halves.

I did this to have width and lateral adjust-ability for the install.

Now that I have the bracket pattern down pat, I can make a single piece permanent bracket from heavier aluminum strap.

At that time I will be able to attach the bracket further back on the curved part of the seat and that will lower the rear even further down because of the bracket being stiffer and relocated.

More pictures will follow as this progresses!

I even have visions of removing the bracket I made and put two springer springs under seat for even more comfort!
How cool would that be?

Now your just trying to drag me into this hi-jacking of a sensible thread.

Oh damn, you've done it already.

Just a thought RB but wouldn't that possibly be overkill?
It would however, add a little "retro" effect if that's what you are looking for.

Just my two cents but I think it looks pretty hot already.
Then again you might go ahead with it and I'll think it's even hotter.
Go figure.

Edit: Any chance of a complete side view of the bike as is?

As the present owner of a 2010 Honda Phantom with a bobbed the frame. After I bobbed the frame, I added
a Springer seat to it.
I can attest to the comfort of a springer seat on a rear shock suspension motorcycle.

I finally got the headlight modulator installed and it works very well.

Next minor project after the seat being worked on is the "traffic control" inert hand grenade on the right-side passenger peg like I have on the Phantom.
The place where I took the last pictures are under a enclosed carport and with two SUV's there wasn't enough room for me to back up and take a full side view.

I will take some outside the carport in the sun and post them later. I will use my camera instead of my iPhone so I can get more detail.
iPhone pictures tend to be narrower than camera pictures when they are rotated for use.

I will put it up on the center stand frame that I use so it will look better.
Or maybe I can put it on my frame lift?

This picture was taken before I bobbed the frame and added the springer seat and fender.
It shows the seat that I used, it was in storage after I removed it and have now tried to recycle it for the Storm.
