I've been looking at the options for mounting removable bags as I don't need them during the work commute. "Easy" brackets were a straightforward search but the "Edge" brackets webpage didn't show a fitment for the 'bird. Edge seem to have been around longer and, according to their comparison sheet, have some better features.....(anyone used both..?)

Here's the boss's reply .......

Hey,

Yeah we are sorry about that and we are currently working on updating
all of our websites. For the meantime could you please let everyone know
that these are the correct part numbers for the Thunderbird:

GB-T-ASM-105/106 - No backrest installed
GB-T-ASMBK-105/106 - OEM or Aftermarket backrest installed
GB-T-ASMDBK-105/106 - OEM Detachable backrest installed

Thanks Again for the email and please let us know if you have any
further questions.

My two cents, the EZ Brackets are better made and are made specific to the TBird with and without the removable backrest. You will now get 35 more differing opinions from mine. They'll both work.

I just installed the Easy Brackets on mine, I have the Triumph bags so I had to drill different mounting holes in the back of the bag but the rest was extremely "easy" to install, I like it.

I choose the Edge brackets only because they offered a larger surface area to mount against the saddle bags. The Model 104-XL bags I use, (also from CAO), seemed to need more support than the smaller sized Easy Brackets offered. This setup does work well.

RB-

What type of bags do you have? Not sure I've seen those before (or perhaps not from that angle.)

Jeff, I have owned these bags for several years. I bought them off eGay for about $125.00 and never used them.
They came with a double steel tubing around the bag which I took off for the easy bracket install.
Here is a side view that I took showing the small but adequate for my use size!

There are no names on them, but here is where I bought them.

The price has gone down considerably since I bought them.

Thanks for the pic. They appear to be significantly smaller than (cheap) pair of Viking Bags I occasionally use with Easy Brackets, but I'm always on the lookout for stylish, locking hard bags that don't look like portable storage bins. I wish Triumph made custom hard bags for the Bird similar to the Rocket III Touring bags.

The search continues....

Hi,

Do you have those lights hooked up on the bags? If so, are they connected to the brake light or the turn signals?

I've been looking for something smaller than most of what's out there and these look like what I need for those short overnight hops through the back roads of Florida.

They are not hooked up, but if I did hook them up I would use them for running lights only!
They are very small single filament bulbs.

Thanks, Just might order a set. You removed the rail, how did you cover the holes from the bolts?

There is only one bolt through the back and two in the front, by reversing the sides I put the side with two holes on the inside and the easy bracket covered them up and on the side which was now the outside of the bag I mounted a Texas Ranger badge through the single hole. I hope that made sense!
