Ive looked through the posts and havnt seen an assessment of the headlight cowl and how it works aero wise. I have recently bought the dart flyscreen wich works well at keeping the wind of my chest but my wife on the back reckons that the turbulence and wind noise are terrible. Does anyone know If the headlight cowl takes wind pressure off the riders chest ? Any help would be much appreciated.

There is an obvious solution to your problem mate, but I won't mention it.

I just put the cowls on myself last month, and I have mixed feelings about the benefits. I'm 6'1", and I think the wind is still pushing my chest area pretty good, but is still much smoother than without the cowl. I was previously using the roadster screen, and the buffeting was annoying as hell once I hit 60mph, but the pressure on my chest was gone. I mainly went with the cowl for the look, with the understanding that there would be minimal wind protection. One thing I have noticed is how the wind seems to be coming stronger from the bottom of my glasses/goggles/face shield.

I mentioned that to her last night . She wasn't impressed . This windscreen issue is driving me nuts .maybe I should have bought the national cycle because it is adjustable. Thanks Chris for your feedback also .

i have a national cycle screen on mine and if adjusted properly to suit your height it will work well
i liked the dart screen for how sleek the mounts were but not being able to adjust it turned me off it

Mate I just asked my dearest if she gets much buffeting, noise etc and basically only when we get over the 120 mark she gets it around the helmet, but she said she just tucks in behind me and it's ok. Lately she has been using her ipod, so noise isn't an issue, plus she wears a top of the range Shoei fullface which I think are pretty quiet especially compared to my flip helmets.

We did a 400k run yesterday and it was quite windy in the afternoon out Warwick, Gatton way, the flyscreen works ok, but you still cop the turbulence on the freeways from all the traffic. Much much better on the quieter roads. I don't think there is a perfect solution, and I'm a bit weary at throwing money at this comfort thing, I reckon it's more to do with our aging bodies than the bikes.

You could always put her in a sidecar with a roof

Thanks for that Lee I reckon you are spot on . I took the screen off this arvo and we went for a run out to Dayboro and back and my lovely passenger thought it wasn't any better. I definately noticed a lot more pressure on my chest ,so it's back on with the screen. Some good quality ear plugs might be the go. Thanks for your help

I had to make it myself after realizing there was nothing in the market for the Bird.
I asked Laminar Lip and they haven't developed specifically for us. So, with a lot of patience and much trial and error I developed what you see her.
The secret: 23deg between windscreen and deflector.

Actually, the laminar lip for the V-Rod fits the Triumph screen perfectly. I have one, but stopped using it because it doesn't help all that much.
