I am still on a quest to get bigger saddlebags that fit the Bird well. I currently have the stock ones and purchased Hardstreet slims only to find I was misinformed by the Hardstreet rep about the capacity of the bags. The are only SLIGHTLY bigger than the stock ones so I ended up staying with the stock because I prefer the leather look.

I have been recently looking at the Triumph Rocket OEM leather bags. They are 40 percent bigger than the Bird stock ones (28 litres versus 20 litres) and seem to have a shock cut out like the Bird ones. The Rocket is listed as a hard to fit bike by some of the after market bag makers because of the slightly upswept pipes and it also seems to me (after sitting on one) that its not a much bigger bike than the Bird.

Does anyone have any idea, thoughts or information on whether the Rocket bags would fit on a Bird?

Thanks

the rocket bags are huge. (leather version). they also have a bery large support bracked that they bolt to. not sure how you could get them to bolt to the bird. i think more than just the easybracket will be needed. they also sag, there is a company out there that makes a liner to fix that but its something to keep in mind.

For an alternate choice, take a look at my photo album. I mounted bags from Edge Leather, model #104xl. ( Link ). At 33 liters, they are about as big as you'd want to see on the bike. I needed this size for last year's cross country trip, and they worked real fine.

Hey Daycruiser-

What seat is that? Looks like an 24/7 butt massage...in a good way.

These guys build the seat from the pan up per your specifications (meaning body measurements and riding position photos). NOT a cheap seat but there is lots of work and materials that goes into it to make it fit you and your passenger properly. They use the factory seat pan (stock seat is torn off the pan and thrown away) so you won't have a seat for a few weeks while they build it. This is my second Russell touring seat and both have been flawless, I ride this seat all day and only get off for fuel. My wife loves the passenger seat, she also will ride all day on it. The Triumph Touring seat had us both off the bike in an hour of riding.

Geez - those bags are massive. They would be luxury for me compaired to my Tesco bag. Nice seat by the way .

Here is the thing,

I am in the market for saddle bag. And ATM looking at slim bags as they are lockable and fit around the rear shock, and therefore closer to the bike

But you guys have NOW got me on th hunt for the HDRK bags, they look fantastic.

But do you think I can find them anywhere.. No where new, anyway a few sets in the USA on eBay but postage is a shocker ( to Australia)

So and suggestion where I can get my hands on some? New or in good condition second hand ( even tried the HD www site, nothing )

Hi Jays;

I live in Argentina and got the HDRK bags on a trip to the US. Bought them through eBay in nearly new condition for USD 400. Here in Argentina I should've paid more than USD1,300. I also fitted the Ghost brackets for quick removal. Cheers.

I think the Road King saddlebags/Tour pak look awsome on the T-Bird. A shame Triumph can't come up something similar. What type of luuage rack/hardware was used to attach the tour pack? I found one on Ebay for $ 500.00. Am seriously thinking about getting it and performing a re-badge.
