Do you like the look of your stock exhaust, but not the sound? You could go buy the TOR exhaust for a mere $450.00, or you can go purchase a 3/8 - 1/2 12" black carbon drill bit ($12.99 at home depot) and drill out the back baffle of your stock exhaust. You don't even have to remove the exhausts themselves. Take a flashlight and shine it into the back of your exhaust, you'll see a slight bend down out toward the left or right depending on which side you're looking at. Past that bend you'll see the baffle that appears to be a plate. That plate is no more than a few mm thick and it took me all of 5 minutes to drill 9 holes in each one. Now the exhaust is deeper, slightly louder, and has a thump to it that it was missing before. My exhausts still appears stock, and it's really not too loud. The decel popping is a little more noticeable, but not obnoxious. If you really wanted to, you could take it a step further and play with the cat to get a little more volume. I'll make another write up of that when I get the Cat I ordered from EBAY.

Hope this helps those that are looking for an easy alternative to shelling out cash for what Triumph should have done from the factory. I've purchased a TuneECU cable, and I'll be uploading a new tune (probably one of the TOR tunes), I'll update after that's done.

Did you ever post a clip of the sound after this mod?

I wanted the shorts, so for me that wasn't an option. As to the cat, some including myself have gutted it. There are a few ways you can do it each being different as far as de-restriction and volume. Whatever the method, the way to get in there is the same...cut a rectangular piece out of the bottom. There are 2 cats housings inside. I pried the cat material out of both. Major pain. But i left the housings so as to keep the part from being straight thru for volume reasons. (i hate loud) I found it sounded about the same as a stock cat ! So i ended up getting straight bypass pipes and ran it like that for a few moths till i couldn't stand the noise. Then i tried another thing....i drilled thru the housings from the outlet pipes to gain a straight thru path from header to muffler. Drilled a hole about 1" in each. Volume was a bit louder than stock cat and i began using the catless tunes with it and they worked fine. Volume is just right and power is pretty close to what it was with straight bypass pipes. But man, drilling thru those housing was almost impossible. I won't go into great detail, but in a nutshell i had to use several types of bits and the housings at that point are rounded so trying to start the hole was nearly impossible as the bits would wander away from the point i was trying to drill them. Tedious doesn't begin to describe it and i'd never do that again. I would suggest you remove the housings completely when you open the cat up. I don't think it will be as loud as straight pipes because the exhaust will take the path of least resistance and most o9f it will go into the main cat body first rather than straight thru. If you just remove the cat material you will find the volume the same as stock and therefore the restriction will still be about the same.
