I am 6'1" 235lbs. I have been using the longhaul dual with sheepskin cover and rider backrest, for 7,000kms. When riding longer than an hour, my butt is calling Red Cross for blood. I decided to have the seat customized and I found the right man for the job. I pick up the finished product tomorrow and I will post photos so you can see the difference in the seat. There was a lot of cutting and shaving from the seat to fit my shape. It is now recovered in leather I also found the backrest pushing me forward, even with the setting on #1. So the "wings" have been flattened and lowered, and the foam thickness is about half what it was. In essence, it is more like an Obusform backrest that supports the lower back. I now know that getting a custom seat is like getting a tailor made suit. The customer has to be there for fittings and trial runs until it is perfect.

How hard can it be? It's not rocket surgery.

Did you change the foam or just reshape it? Been thinking of this myself.

Most of it is reshaped, carved, but some foam was added at the hips or the widest point of the seat. I took a spin yesterday, with stops, for about 400km. The vinyl cover was taken off so the foam was showing with the exception of using my sheepskin cover. Other than the Poor-boy look, I wanted a good run as a litmus test. I went back to the customizer and told him where the pressure points were. He ground those areas down so that they were smooth instead of box shaped. I can only compare to other bikes I have owned. The Tbird seat with backrest had me sitting far more forward. If I dialed the backrest to any other forward position, my package would be sitting on the gas tank.
