Hello

Has anyone installed the chrome controls?
I was looking at the Triumph instructions and it called for removing the gas tank. Does anyone have any shortcuts to make this easier?

Thanks
John

When I installed mine, it was not necessary to remove the tank. It all depends whether you have enough slack on throttle wire adjusters on handles or not. If I remember correctly, that is the only reason why there's gas tank removal mentioned in those instructions. I measured the threads on those plastic adjusters, then loosened them and then released the wires from the grip. By measuring them, it was easy afterwards to get them into same exact position they were.

Thanks for the info. Did you disconnect battery when installing or just have ignition in off position?

Thanks
John

I might be too causious but I disconnect battery EVERY time i hassle with wires. It's just a one minute job compared to fried wire harness which will cause enormous headache and suffering wallet.

Someone here posted pictures of broken throttle handle, or to be more specific, broken wire holder of throttle handle. If you try to force the wire off the holder without decent slack, that will happen, be careful. Other than that, I think instructions from triumphinstructions.com were made very easy to follow (even for me who have sometimes difficulties with technical vocabulary as english isn't my native language).

I and about a dozen others have experienced broken throttle retainers on the hand grip.

Your advice is good - don't force the retaining pin into the clip, but Triumph appears to have designed a clip that is not strong enough.

I have a new hand grip coming from triumph. I've heard they use a different plastic on them now. I'll report back when i get my new grip
