Was wearing them with the Reisa liners in during a TORRENTIAL downpour on the Million Dollar Highway last month and stood bone-dry. Also had on the matching AGV Sport Tempest waterproof jacket and my SIDI Discovery rain boots. Shook all of it off when we got to the motel in Durango and all the outers were dry less 30 minutes later. Excellent rain/cold weather gear for the money!

| Posted : 11 Nov 2011 - 01:20 Post title : Re: pants (Re: FTL40) | | I just went through a few years of trying to find a pair of all weather pants-to keep this short, I just got a pair of Motoport Street Kevlar Jeans They are 100% Kevlar - they are lined with some softer stuff so you don't feel the scratchy kevlar on your skin. The rear of the pants are a "stretch kevlar" and the front is a "mesh kevlar" It has the best armor coverage i have ever seen in a ridin pant. Shin to knee-wraps around the front of your thigh and I got the sewn in non removable hip armor. They look like jeans-I got black with zip up ankle. The black fabric has some super secret compound that reflects heat-it really works. BMW uses it on their black leather seats to keep them cool. I went out in 85 degrees and was fine off the bike but I did remove the thigh armor. The pants also have the optional liner which makes them water/wind proof. They are killer expensive but are custom made. Skin grafts are a lot more than these pants.
You have to send the company a pair of jeans that fit you well-all the info is on the website- you have to mark with tape where your knee armor goes- you can call Motoport and speak to Wayne-the owner of the place. You get good service. They have a few week to a few month wait for their stuff. Mine came 2 weeks early-the liner they sent was the wrong one. They admitted a screw up and made it right quickly.
Prior to buying I read a bunch of crap on ADV rider what I will call Wayne Wars-from my perspective these are the best pants you can buy because they are made to fit you. You have to read the website and figure out what is bullshit and what is fact about the merits of Kevlar vs other materials. It does make for a bullet resistant vest so must have something going for it.
There are plenty of other good choices out there-my picks are
Aerostitch- well made of cordura mesh, supposedly will melt when you slide on the road and burn into your flesh so Aero Stitch says to wear a layer under-one piece suits
Olympia-good stuff
Roadgear-also good-make some great "water resistant" leather perf pants-my wife wears them and she looks great in them-for me they did not fit and had a baggy ass-they are the XKJ pants-worth a look if you go leather.
Also check out Link stuff for cheap. Motorcycle Leather Exchange-has used gear but that's a crap shoot as to condition but you might luck out and get a deal.
For me the custom fabrication and all kevlar made the motoport my pick-I hope that they are the last pants I have to buy for at least 10 years.
First Gear-TPG or the leather stuff
WebbikeWorld is a great place to get good gear reviews. Revzilla has great videos. New Enough is a great place to pick up deals.
Red is the fastest color. Due to the way light is in a color spectrum red is first-so the red bikes light gets to the eye faster than the other colors which makes Red the fastest color.
Therefore the SE is the fastest Thunderbird

The ONLY CE approved jeans are made by Drayko. Not waterproof, but safety-wise I'd have to assume they are tops. Worth a look if you're interested. I'll prolly pick up a pair pretty soon myself. As far as WebBikeWorld, I'd have to somewhat disagree about their reviews. Many of them are old and it's hard to tell the date of the review in most cases. They also give misleading reviews in my opinion, at times anyway. Not saying don't look there, just know exactly what you're reading and take it with a little grain of salt.
