| Posted : 01 Dec 2009 - 01:31 Post title : Stock to TOR Dyno Run | | Finally got to have my turn on the dyno to compare the stock pipes to the TOR's and where they stand with the competition. THis is with the cat in place. Temp was 50 degrees and 35% humidity. I left the cat in because that's the way I'm going to keep it. With the cat out, it's TOO LOUD for me, and as you will see on the charts if you have the cahonies to hold it she tops out at 153mph at red line. These numbers are real close to the BC pipes. If you can't read the numbers they are Stock 65.52 hp 86.21 torque TOR's 68.80hp 89.06 torque.

I think i mentioned that in another post, but i had no idea that guess was so close. But that dyno may be off too as far as actual HP. I've heard 70 which seems awful low for a 1600, but i understood because it's 85 at the crank so i knew the RWHP was going to be low. But 65? I've heard how much dynos vary and i gotta think that one is showing a little too low. At some point you gotta wonder why the HP isn't that far from a bonnie ! granted, huge torque compared to one, but still, thats just an awful low number for a 1600. the bike will undoubtedly gain a lot in the upper range with air mods and the proper tuning. My speedmaster was the same way. Dropped off like a rock way before redline. Modding the airbox and re-jetting plus a few other things like high performance coils and plugs and in the upper range it became a new bike.

| Posted : 01 Dec 2009 - 05:42 Post title : Re: Stock to TOR Dyno Run (Re: Truss) | | If i recall, he had the TORs tune before he put on tors. I had mentioned mine seemed to run better with the TORs tune and it even fixed the warm starting issue, so several people had that tune loaded with stock pipes and i think he did. Anyways, i can assure you the TORs dyno was done with the tune because when i first installed my TORs without the tune (had to wait a week to get to the dealer) the bike ran horribly. So much less power than stock i'd say more than the 3 HP gain mustang got. No way it would have dyno'd better than the stock pipes with TORs if the tune wasn't installed.
that said, if he dyno'd with the TORs tune with both pipes, i'd say add another HP. there was a tiny difference in power with the stock pipes and tors tune over the stock tune. But the main diff was the starting issue being gone. By the way, for anyone wondering why i know about the TORs tune with stock pipes, i later put the stockers back on to see how the bike ran after feeling unsure whether it really gained power. I then put the TORs back on again and at that point i was sure it did.

Yes I already had the tune loaded and a K&N filter.I would expect to see a little more gain after I get some more miles on the bike. I only have 1600 miles on it right now. I'm quite happy with the TOR sound and performance.

As i posted a while back at RAT, at around 4000 miles mine loosened and felt a good bit stronger overnite, which i thought was odd. but in any case it felt like it gained about as much as it did with the pipes.

It would kill me to store the bird for the winter ! I'm such a wimp i can barely ride in winter out here in what you all would consider great riding weather.

I always thought it wasn't anything more than a saying, but more and more i hear people who've moved back and fourth between cold and warm climates saying the same thing. I always figured thinning blood was nothing more than a saying that implied cold is mentally harder to deal with after you've gotten used to a warmer climate.
